Ok so I have been looking for a nice rattan / rattan effect set for a while and found this which seems like a great price - it did go out of stock but i called them and they explained delivery is approx 6 weeks so i ordered on the phone - i have a delivery date for the 27th Aug but have ordered it anyway and if i find something better in-between i will order that instead.

Seems like a good deal as the other Mali garden sets have really good reviews.

To be fair i believe this is a clearance price. I very much doubt it will get much cheaper - others on the site with less seats are £500 odd.

Yeah its a very good price and unusual to have high backs on all 8 chairs. My main concern is powder coated steel frames rust pretty quickly so you're not going to want to leave your set outside all winter as you could with aluminium framed sets.
#4
Confused, how does it form a cube with those high backed chairs? The high backed chairs don't look like they fold, so how do they end up under the table of do you have to store four chairs somewhere else?
#5
The other 4 chairs sit inside the first 4 if that makes sense. YouTube it as there is a video that shows it all.

HOT, thank you. Been checking online nearly everyday since you posted this deal and was unable to order online for home delivery. A store 15 miles away stocked them as they are a hub store, they said. I ordered one in the store this afternoon and its getting delivered tomorrow morning!

This set is advertised as £599.99 in their outdoor living brochure!!

any discount codes kicking about?

I've just got a delivery date for the 5th of August.
#10
Can you let me know what you think of it when it arrives.

Its really lovely, bigger than I thought. Plan is to use it outdoors but with our awful Scottish weather it will end up in the conservatory most of the year.

Thanks for posting! Think I got one of the very last sets in Scotland!

Hi I still don't understand how the chairs all tuck under to form a cube with the high back chairs. I have watched the video but it doesn't show it as a cube?? I have just called the store and est. delivery is 6th Aug and it does seem a great price. Can anyone please explain as I would like to order tonight.

I bought a 6 seater mali set from homebase, but, before I bought it I did ask when they were having their outdoor living summer sale...manager told me they don't have sales now as their prices are low all year round ???
when it arrived we put it together, and it does need 2 people as the tables pretty heavy...but theres a tear in the rattan - they offered me £35 or new table

I just tried to order on the phone and they said they aren't taking any more orders and I have to wait till at least mid August until I can order online, unsure if the price will remain the same :(
#15
I thought that. Stupid low price. Absolute bargain.
#16
Just need to find a cover as I presume it doesn't come with one.
#17
Homebase are becoming a joke since they were taken over...I was in there today buying a cover for my mali set and had to ask a member of staff for help as they don't actually sell a cover that's the correct size for their own dining sets...theyre so disorganized its not funny

Sat on this set in store today, honest opinion the cube like chairs were very uncomfortable on the back even with the cushions in place, better when the other chairs are tucked inside but then you only have 4 chairs, also note that the 4 other style chairs do not have arms, unlike the stacking chairs in the rest of the mali sets. £249 is not a bad price to be fair, not sure of the £599 original price as there is alot of quality furniture out there for that kind of price, end of the day this is steel framed so may rust in a few years unlike a quality aluminum set, so around £300-£350 is probably about the right price as you will need to change it in 3-4 years unless you always cover it when it rains and tuck it away for the winter.

I will let you know when i receive it next week what i think of it - if i am not happy i will return it. I doubt that you will get this at the £250 now as the price is being reviewed. I noticed that the 4 seater sets are more expensive on their site so maybe a mistake or a clearance product. Regarding the steel set rusting - i have one in my garden from 8 years ago and not one spot of rust on it (it stays out all year also).

I dont think the price is a mistake, but i suppose it could go up should homebase feel its selling well (supply / demand), I spoke with the duty manager yesterday and he said that the set originally had very low sales but is now in high demand since the price was slashed and that there was a wait until at least end of August on the set but said I could have the display for £220, after we went around all the rattan sets on display I found this set to be the most uncomfortable in the 8 seat arrangement, if you look at the cube like chairs there is no give at the back and very firm, we were planning on using the table for 4 (bit tight fit for 8 anyhow) and the cube chairs for a coffee table but they are not suitable as you cannot sit back on them (it hurts), the other mali sets have better chairs with nice arms, at £249 its good value but worth checking out in store first as once you sit on the others you realise how uncomfortable it is.

With regards to rust you have been very lucky to have no rust after 8 years, mine normally start rusting within a few years, usually get the dripping rust stains over the patio when you move them and that was sets costing more than this.

" but said I could have the display for £220,"

Which store please?

"I dont think the price is a mistake, but i suppose it could go up should homebase feel its selling well "

It is £599 in the outdoor living catalogue as shown below

For an 8 seater Rattan effect set it is a steal in my opinion.

Have you tried calling your local store? My local didn't have one but they told me of a store within 5 miles that did. :)

I'll try that and email. Thank you :) Such a bargain to miss

My delivery was pushed back to this week. Has anyone else received one?
#27
Just to confirm I received this on Friday. Set it all up and it really is a bargain. Very comfortable and well built. Certainly worth the money if you manage to get one.
#28
Have you received this product? I ordered mine at a similar time and didn't receive it, re-booked the delivery to today and have now been told they have none in stock and i will not be receiving the product at all.

I enquired and told not selling them a my more :( Damn :)

I got mine. Delivery was pushed back a week but it did arrive all ok. Is really nice and very good quality. Not sure what the bloke above is on saying it is uncomfortable as it certainly is not. Am sure there will be more deals towards the end of summer. Also Argos have a 4 seater cube one if this helps?
#32
Thank you :) Will have a peek

Ordered this at beginning of school holidays. Was supposed to arrive this morning. Heard nothing and so rang up. It is no longer available for delivery; girl at the end of the phone did not know why I hadn't been informed. Do not know why they took my order. Delivery was arranged sooner and then postponed because of lack of stock. Have waited because it was a good price but not if it doesn't exist. Could have bought from somewhere else before now if I had known. Not impressed. It is still on the website!

Back in stock in my local store and now reduced to £199
#35
back in stock in a few local stores, Nottingham Sheffield and Derby for reserve and collect. £199.93
