I have been looking for flights to Oz and had a look at skyscanner this morning and it came up with flights to Perth from Manchester for £565 return with Emirates. Needs to be booked through Major Travel PLC as other websites (expedia, etc.) have the flights at a slightly higher price. Ideals for those looking to get away at, or around, the May half-term holiday.

thanks! i'll have a look!!

Why would you want to go to Perth in their winter?
#12
Because their winter is usually better than our summer?

This is a good deal and I echo the other poster, catch a Virgin Blue, Jetstar flight to go to other cities. Tiger also fly to different places. I am doing Manchester to Melbourne in 2 weeks today :-) and booked a while ago direct with Qatar for £581 which I thought was good, even posted here at the time and it hardly got up to 50 degrees even though I thought it was a fab deal for Melbourne! Was able to choose seats online too. Just hope they live up to their 5 star airline rating as flew Singapore last year which was fab!

PS - Was in Perth last May and it was hotter than our Summer!

May is ok. June is start of rainy season, average daytime temp 18-21c.

If you go to Perth, catch the Captain Cook ferry to Freemantle, really cool place and the prison is spooky!

Not hugely I'd imagine? It's early autumn here in Melbourne and its not a huge amount hotter than our Summer (at least in the south east), Perth is generally hotter though. (Virtually no rain though!)

Regardless, its still perfectly warm, and its a cheap time to visit Australia - my flight to Sydney in late January was about 900 pounds and it took me ages to find one that low!

I fly to Brisbane this week. Got 1 adult and 1 child ticket for a total of £779 in the Singapore Airlines sale last June. Altho I'm from Lancashire I am flying from London as the price from Manchester was just over £1800 for the same dates. Return flights from Manchester to London (NOT BA) £150 and a night's stay on my return to London at the Travelodge T5 Heathrow for £14.99 (£9.00 per night and £5.99 breakfast - kids eat free) - another sale price - saving myself around £940 by flying from London rather than Manchester

After being told that I now had to pay for a visa into Australia (I have made plenty of trips - but have not been for 5 years, and never paid for a visa) at a cost of around £20 per applicant. You can obtain FREE visas via the Australian Immigration website. You need to request an 'Evisitor' rather than an ETA. An Evisitor visa has the same conditions as a ETA but they are FREE. Did mine online Friday midnight was approved and received confirmation within 36 hours - and another £40 saved

Hi there,

Just wondered how you rate the Qatar Airways experience (?)

I usually fly Emirates when I go to NZ, but have heard good things about Qatar . . . . . . what did you think?

Rgds
