Stunning part of cuba, spent part of our honeymoon there, but that cost over £4K, so this is a snip if you can get it.

£229 including checked in baggage (pretty essential on a 2 week holiday) and £246pp with in-flight meals. Great deal!

However, ive just rang Thomas Cook direct as its their flights and they quoted me £202pp including baggage or £217pp inc baggage and meals. Even better!

Thats a great deal Futura, did you book ?

I didn't know there was an airport at Varadero, I thought they just used Havana and then bused? Edit - maybe Varadero-Juan G Gomez Int´l Airport, a bit obvious, excuse me!

Hotels are mixed here, ensure you book what you need, as I met loads of people who'd switched between them, due to various issues.

Looking at accom seperately the cheapest all inclusive hotel is working out about £600pp for the 2 weeks. But Thomas Cook quoted me £696pp for a 2 week package at the Palma Real in Varadero including transfers and checked-in luggage allowance going on the same dates. So think I might book that one.

Ive been before and Havana is only a short trip from Varadero, amazing place!

Yeah, as futura states - Havana is incredible, so spend some time on the beautiful beaches at Varadero, but also do a bus trip to Havana, possibly staying for a couple of nights, as you'll see real Cuba, and not just beach resort hotels.

I stayed here a few years ago and its horrible. Not on the beach and generally grubby. If you are gonna go all that way then pay the extra for a proper 4 star on the beach.. One of the iberostars or similar...

do not go Palma Real was there in June and totally spoilt the holiday

We did 5 nights in Jibacoa, then 5 night havanah.

Perhaps should have done 6 then 4 in Havanah, but Havanah is amazing and would go sooner rather than later before the political situation changes and they all be capitalists!

palma real - did it 6 years ago . horrible food - worst ive ever had on hols, DO NOT pay for this all inc at this hotel. AND drinks are really poor, 1 at a time , bad measures , 1 barman, plastic cups . nasty - AVOID . take the flights and get your own hotel . it really is a v bad budget hotel .

also varadero - id avoid this place too , while the bach is really nice .... it isnt the cayo's !! cayo's are nicest idyllic parts of cuba. the standard of food in varadero and facilities leaves a lot to be desired . personally its the only place ive visited that i would never go back to [and its one of the places i wanted to most see originally] .
