I have been looking for a tripod and saw the Manfrotto Carbon Fibre 732CY one gets good reviews.

The cheapest price I can find on it's own is around £130+, then I noticed that Jessops include it with a ball head which sells for around £35+ and a bag/backpack all for £129.99 if you use the discount code TRIPODS10 it comes out at £116.10 without taking into account the 4% quidco.

I think this is a really good deal and I'm sure you guys will comment if it isn't - please dont get this confused with the Manfrotto Start Up pack which retails for around £100 that comes with the 7322YB tripod, as this tripod is only worth around £60.

I have a load of vouchers that I won. Is there any way to buy this with the discounts applied (i.e. code and Quidco) using the vouchers or do you have top pay full price in store.

(I find the instore prices so ridiculous compared to net prices that effectively the vouchers are worth 25-30% less - and less even more if you cannot use codes and Quidco)

Not entirely sure but this looks like the same tripod here for £72.89 + £6 delivery (I know it's a marker place seller but it's just for illustration purposes)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002RL37XW/ref=cm_cr_asin_lnk

it's not pictured with the bag but it does say that it comes with one.

I have just reserved (via Quidco) to collect in store. Therefore I would think you could use your vouchers when you collect the item and still pay the web price.

Thanks for the link, Read the review. Bag maybe to small for the Tripod

Not the same kit. As the OP stated, this is probably the cheaper starter kit. The 7322YB tripod is made of aluminium.

Yes that is the cheaper kit, as that tripod can be bought for about £60 with a ball head, were as the carbon fibre one tends to be about £130 without the ball head so not only is £116.10 cheaper you also get the ball head and bag for free - also I think the cheaper tripod won't fit into the bag, which would be a pain.

nearest to me is Harrogate, too far to go but hot price.
#9
Yeah non in north east.

Load of poo again... Leicester is the hub of Jessops yet I cannot even get one in store... Jacobs is also based in Leicester and for something else I wanted to buy last week they only deliver to your home address for their security...not much use when you are at work all week. No wonder they are struggling when you don't have such hassles with Warehouse Express etc. who are typically cheaper anyway.
#11
Just reserved one locally, so fingers crossed they actually have it.

Good find. Excellent price for a Carbon Fibre Manfrotto kit!

It's a good deal if your wanting compact for sure.

But £130 is a lot of money for a tripod (this is coming from a guy who spent £400 on one!). Just to note the disadvantages of this one will be that it isn't very tall at all. Ideally you want a tripod that extends to eye height without having to raise the centre column (even with centre column this is pretty pathetic!) otherwise your going to compromise stability and if you compromise the stability then what is the point of buying an expensive tripod?

My 2 cents? If your going to spend £130 on a tripod and weight is not so much of an issue, look for an aluminium one with a 3 section leg set up and not 4. I think it's the 055x thats meant to be good. If you can afford it, buy the carbon fibre one. Also redsnapper receive good reviews.

That's only my advice of course. I

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr just spent the last month FLAT out looking for a Carbon Fibre tripod for my two upcoming photography trips. After sending another few grand on bits of kit for my Canon 5D MKII I opted for a Jessops Carbon fibre Major. Then may upgrade to a GITZO for £400 in the future.

I saw this kit on Amazon.com (not .co.uk)

Why do deals only ever come around when I buy something?.......

I Bought the Tamrac Evolution 8 bag and a 580EX II speedlite yesterday so expect those to be released on offer at half price any day now! haha

Fab find and price. Thanks for sharing.

I have ordered one for collection tomorrow and have a gift card from my birthday last summer to offset the cost even more.

Hi Granty - I wanted this for its portability, as I spend a lot of time walking around various cities with my camera I didn't want to be lugging around a very heavy one for hours on end. I picked this up from Jessops earlier and am quite impressed with it, it seems quite stable (well enough for me) but my camera isn't too heavy (Canon 60d - Plastic Body). I can see your point though, but for me weight was a deciding factor.

The bag is quite nice too, it has an internal bag which can be removed and used to cary around an SLR and one lens and then if you want to carry everything you'd slip it back into the main bag. The main bag can be worn as a backpack, a shoulder bag or a satchel as all the straps are removable or can be tucked away.

For £116.10 (minus Quidco hopefully) I'm happy with it.

Just got mine for £116.10, so voted to tip this over 200°
thanks!

Yes, it is no where near eye height, but 1) very light and 2) great bag.

If you checked a store that was not in stock earlier, check again. My local store didn't have one, but now has one for collection tomorrow. I've decided it's not the tripod for me, so being out of stock tuirned out to be a blessing in disguise as i would have bought it earlier.

Picked up one today from islington. They have one more brand new in stock as at end Sunday 30th Jan.

I'm using it for my canon 5dmkii and on first play the head does seem to wobble when tilted downwards with a heavy L glass lens. Will have a read of the instructions later and that may fix this problem.

Overall, am very happy. The camera has always been too heavy for my 4 year old daughter but with this tripod she is taking some excellent shots after less than 1 hours playtime.

Voted hot.

I may be mistaken, but isn't this meant for compact DSLR or bridge cameras?

Dunno. It's Sunday so I thought I'd pick one up and have a play. Jessops are usually easy for taking stuff back as long as it is in resellable condition.

this is not too small, you just have to instert the head upside down (have the same with the alloy tripod)

how do you mean? with the camera between its legs?
btw, don't heavy lens come with a collar to help balance them, so you mount the lens and the body floats, rather than mounting the body with the lens overhanging?

r these any good for the price?

I never ended up collecting mine in the end as I think it may have been a little too 'lightweight' for what I had in mind

Anyone who got this...is the head removable? Cannot figure out a way how!

i did not bother to collect them either, i dont think this could support a dslr.

The only way it will fit in the bag that it comes with is if you fully retract the legs and take the head unit off.

So to answer your question the head can be removed.

Works great with my 5dmkii.

Supports my 60D with a reasonably heavy lens (10mm - 20mm Sigma) it may not be as sturdy as a large aluminium one, but it sure is light to carry.

Did anyone manage to get quidco on it?
