very nice. whats the cheapest 'addition' on for 1p?

no disrespect to you here:)

but why are you posting various items that are nearly always on sale at argos
i could do that all day with the price reductions/clearance pages.on the site

just seems a bit pointless

also why not just post all of them on one page instead of various threads

someone on here got told off on here the other day from a mod for doing the same with dvds
this post hardly seems fair coming from a mod doing the same

Disagree with you ScottyF - this product is exactly what I'm looking for. I don't want to trawl through a whole post on Argos clearance items.

The main reason i spotted this was because of the title!!

Good work Edi

Also, does anyone know what the cheapest item is to take over the £50 mark??

how about adding Shaver/Toothbrush Adaptor for just 61p to take it over the 50 quid

I can't emphasise avoiding Argos Furniture like this enough, very cheap Chinese flat pack imports of bad design and quality that aren't worth it imho

Agreed, you'll regret spending even that little on it.

where should we buy from then

mfi--very overpriced
ikea--very limited range and style and sometimes double the price.

i had read these comments on here before so when i needed a bedroom set looked around everywhere but still ended up at argos for price and range.

if your going for the bedroom packs for £100-£150 then i agree but if your looking at separate items £80+ then the quality seems good

Don't buy flat pack furniture at all! It isn't even worth the very little, it falls apart very easily. Get some solid pine furniture with the joints dovetailed. Yes it is more expensive to start with but it'll last a damn site longer.
#12
Gees, I wish i could afford no-flat pack furniture. But again , it beats having clothes in a bin bag. Voted hot.
#13
I aggre with the gripes about flat pack from Argos, it is rubbish, i put one together for my daughter and no way could i get it square which resulted in half the drawers not fitting and being too tight to open close, however i purchased six drawer unit ready assembled and i reckon its made from balsa wood, shame cos it looks nice but wont last long.
#14
most furniture in this price bracket will be screwed & dowled together rather than just dowels in the cheaper stuff.

little tips for you

get yourself a tube of quality glue and a drill driver and glue and screw every joint (not just the dowels but the whole joint)
also take your time even if it takes a whole day
lastly glue and screw on the back boards(dont use the pins they supply)this will give more strength to your structure

these few little things make loads of difference and the items should last you for years.

As the others say, you get what you pay for. I've got a set (without the side draws). Alright for a guest bedroom but not for regular use... oh and 35 days delivery btw.

I was just gonna add the same kind of post. It does makes a difference.

Yeah , I got my daughter the very same Manhattan set , wardrobe , chest of drawers , bedside cabinet and not at this reduced price :x
the double wardrobe was a nightmare to put together , those stupid
interlocking metal screw cam connector things just ripped right out
of the "wood" , I had to screw the end panels on !
Never again !!!
Pay the extra for quality stuff

Ikea stuff is probably no better, if you look closely at some of their cheaper range stuff like drawers etc, they are cheap for a reason.

Did I read on the Argos site that this was 20kg?

Is that not quite heavy for ****?
#20
A small minority of the cheaper ikea stuff is just as bad yes.

Vast majority isn't.

I have a narrow pine draw set that only cost £35, untreated wood and basic but solidly put together.

Argos flat packs really is quantity over quality

I bought this range for my bedroom, as I needed something quick when I moved in - I bought 2 triple wardrobes, dressing table and chest of drawers, they all need replacing just 2 years later! The doors have dropped, the drawer fronts keep coming off etc.. I cant wait to get rid of it!!!!

I have a couple of pieces of furniture that was bought from Index when they were still around and it really sucks ass.

Don't sit anything remotely heavy on top of this (14" TV...) because it'll bend :)

On the other hand, just bought a couple of cheap tables from Argos (an end table and a hi fi unit) which I'm using as a bedside table and something to sit my DVD player and games consoles on and they're okay for the price (£8 and £13 respectively). Wouldn't sit anything heavy on them but I guess that's just common sense..

Totally agree - Ikea furniture (aside from the very very cheap stuff) goes together very easily and a lot of it is made from real wood and will actually last reasonably well for the amount of money you pay for it

Why would you expect to get something that is as sturdy as a hand made solid wood chest of drawers that would cost upwards of 4 times the price? We have noth sorts in out house (cheap and cheerful and expensive and solid ) and there is no comparison

My wife has these Manhattan units in her dressing room - they are of low quality but they are fairly cheap at this price

I have to agree..... I bought a set of similar drawers earlier this year and have had to go on Ebay for a complete set of 3 pairs of drawer runners as the ones supplied disintergrated..... credit to Argos though.... they refunded me the full price and told me to dispose of the product as it came flat packed and I wasn't carrying it to the store.....:giggle:

My wife and I bought this range for our flat. It looks great at first then you fill it and a few weeks later it is falling apart.

I really took my time building it as well making sure everything was perfect.

This range is ok as long as you do not fill the drawers up. I would say it is great for a guest room etc.

must admit they are cheap but we always use our own glue etc to put them together and even with our kids they have lasted well.

Sorry but how do you get free postage? I bought furniture in Argos this week and paid £5 for postage. Have I missed something where I could have had it for free?
#27
Free delivery on £50+ orders for the next week or so aiui, it's a new offer from Argos.
#28
Any idea when it started? I ordered on Sunday night (28th). Any idea if I can try to claim this back...or too late?
#29
It started when the gift voucher offer ended which was the 30th, so suspect 31st.
