OK - it isn't an Oregon Scientific but for £4.60 (if Quidco tracks) it has to be worth a punt. Batteries included too.

This measures inside AND outside temperature.

Main link doesnt seem to want to work so please use this one:

Great stuff - I will update the post to include the code :-)

Unless the review guy was unlucky and bought a dodgy one it sounds like it's prone to the display failing ...
#6
I couldn't find a review - can you post the link please

How does the external sensor work? Its only on a 1.5m cable but needs to be outside?

These things have absolutely no effect on the weather.

Waste of money then! I was hoping to get one and set it to Sunny to get rid of all this white stuff..... mind you, even if it did work I couldn't get out to get one and there's no way they'd be able to deliver.

EDIT: Just rand them and asked if they deliver. They said, 'No. We do Ham, Pepperoni, Salami.......' Sorry! Couldn't resist.

The remote unit sits on your inside window sill and the sensor is supposed to dangle outside a closed window via the 1.5m cable...
#14
yes apart from not measuring rainfall, wind speed and barometric pressure it's a "weather station" lol

Save money, stick your head out of the window.

I've already got a device. It's called a window.

when i look at this...

i think of the 80's (and im not evan that old)

I go one in their last pre-Christmas offer.
The batteries don't last very long and are expensive.
Display is difficult to read as well.
#19
Bit of a stretch to call it a weather station, it is just an indoor/outdoor thermometer, a good price mind you for a dual digital thermometer but Maplin are misleading you calling it a a weather station.
#20
So it's just a thermometer?
#21
Not bad for a fiver. I have one with barometric pressure and in/out temp which was only a fiver about 4 years ago, on offer of course.

I absolutely hate maplins... terrible store. but this is a good price.

I once bought something brand new it didnt work so i took it back, they said i couldnt, they said if its faulty we will have to send it away for testing which will take 2 weeks, i was like WHAT THE F**K, so you take my item and my cash and i get nothing while you test it, even though the customer is always RIGHT!!

shocking & shoddy worst store i ever shopped at, what about consumer rights, blown right out the window. wouldnt recommend anyone shop here.

This was in doncaster store!!!

suppose online you have the 7 day cooling off period. but buy with caution.

Almost similar experience which taught me to be wary of Maplins for large purchases.

Bought a Linksys router from there which was on offer so the price was similar to online etailers.

Got it home and when I unpacked it , it looked used but I went ahead with the install anyway.

However, it wouldn't work so I went into the Linksys s/w and it had custom settings in there which confirmed the unit had been used - probably a customer return.

Went back to Maplin and went upto the Manager who happened to be on the shop floor and explained the situation.

In a loud voice he said "no problem" and ordered one of his 'minions' to give me a replacement. There were none available so they said they would order one for me and ship it to me at home. When I queried If I'd be charged postage, the manager advised he'd waive it.

Think he was trying to show off in front of his staff but, who cares, as I got a brand new replacement delivered to my house within a few days.

The member of staff who took my details said I was lucky as normally, the item would have to be checked, as explained above, before being replaced.

can recommend this one

http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Home-Gadgets/Hama/Hama-EWS-500-Weather-Station---Black

have had one for 3 years with no problems , well made , good wireless range and accurate.
will work with 3 outside sensors on different channels, we monitor the greenhouses and outside temp in our plant nursery

I noticed the same. Maybe there was a free delivery offer at the time this was posted but not any longer? In any case, the delivery now makes the price higher than in OP.
