For Maplin, this is a good price. I know Lidl have done cheap monitors occasionally but still, £9.99 I think I'll be having one. I'm sure the outlay of £10 will save someone some money, after all a 20 year old fridge can cost £30 to run a month. Yet £200 gets you a new one!... I'll stop babbling...

Can be delivered if you want to avoid the stores, only £2.99 or free if you spend £35+

Power Meter:
Measures voltage (V), amps (A), watts (W), volt-amps(VA), hertz (Hz) and power factor (PF)
Great for seeing how much power your appliances are consuming
Maximum current: 15A/ maximum power: 3750VA
Large, clear LCD screen

For the price, it seems a good deal - I wouldn't mind finding out how much power my various appliances are using...

Be aware though, that this device *consumes* 20 watts - so don't leave it on all the time or it'll cost you money!

Does this device allow you to say, plug in the washing machine and record how much power is used for the duration of a washing cycle (so you could compare the energy for a 30 deg wash vs 40 deg wash, 1000 rpm spin vs 1400 rpm spin etc), or does it just give you an instantaneous readout?

Why cold btw? Are there better/cheaper models elsewhere?

Yes, it does KW/h, so will show you the total energy used (presumably you reset it to zero then start your wash) Good luck with dragging your washing machine out to plug this in though :-)

Manual says "The LCD shows all meter readings which includes Volt, Current, Watt, Frequency, Power Factor, and VA, it starts to accumulate KWH and its duration time (hour) after power ON."
It seems Maplins have a more expensive model that indicates it will tell you how much energy has been consumed:

Ordered separately before you posted this. I think it is a good deal so hot from me.
