Decent AMP with built in DAC (but just 45watts per channel 8 ohm, not good for floor-standers), good CD player, and ok`ish speakers...
Not a massive bargain, but a good price if looking for quality setup.

Can anyone recommend any other set ups similar to this? Seems good but got nothing to compare it too. Would like a set with a vinyl player too.

Any help would be appreciated.

My NAIM Supernait 2 is only 80w and is WAY MORE than powerful enough for nearly any speakers, I have had a few amps quoted about 30-40w and they drive floor standers with ease, I'd ignore amplifier outputs, it's a rough guideline, speaker efficiency is more important.

Looks a great deal for someone to get in to HiFi, that amp also has a toroidal transformer, built in DAC looks good on paper, chuck any old PC on it running vortexbox and what a bargain for a music streamer/jukebox.

I would love to buy this and checked out the Marantz TT5005 to go with it.

Not a hifi buff by any stretch but don't know how this is better over a normal hifi? Can someone educate me on the basics?

I currently have a old Technics system which has served me well along with Sonos throughout the house.

Thanks for any replies!

Floorstanders require less power to drive than bookshelf speakers in almost all cases.

Nothing wrong with 45w per channel but it depends entirely on the quality of the amp's power supply.

Great product - I personally own the 2020i/PM6005 amp combination and it is a fantastic system for the price.

For the record, I pay £419 for mine from Peter Tyson without the CD. :-)

I recently bought Marantz PM5004 with TT5005 plus Q Acoustics 2010i - paid about £450 for it.
Nice set as starter.
Would 6005 combo sound better than your Technics system? For Audiophile for sure. For you or me probably not.

As for a deal:
PM6005/CD6005 - £470
QA 2020i - retail at £169

So the deal saves you £40

The Wattage means nothing really, I have a Marantz PM7200 driving some Mission M34i's Floorstanders, 95 Watts per channel, But when switched to A Class it's only 25 Watts per channel, But you would never know the difference if you went by volume alone.

Over the years so many manufactures have inflated there wattage figures that people see 500 Watts on the back of there stereo and think that's what it pumps out, When in reality it's probably something in the region of about 20 Watt's, Lot's of Valve Amps costing many thousands of pounds each only pump out Watt's in the 10-20 region.

And Hot price, Marantz don't make poor gear, Love there stuff.

Ordered this for the old man and also he wanted a record deck so instead of going Rega I went Pro-ject demo carbon with Ortofon Red 2 cart. A nice grand spent for him on a Sunday morning :)

The pm7200 is a class A biased amp set at 25wrms and will switch to class AB when you need more hence no loss in volume. Great amp though I have one.

45wrms is more than enough for small to medium rooms. I had a pm4200 and that was 30wrms and fine for a large bedroom/medium living room. Pretty nice deal going, speakers could be upgraded when budget allows and to suit room.

I would like to have gone Rega but decided that the Pro-ject was good enough. I am more of a Technics SL1210mk2 man :D

Audio Visual online has a better deal, £579 for the same package.

Peter Tysons has the same deal if you happy with black finish for speakers and cd/amp. Also comes with 5m of Chord leyline speaker cable too. I've got the Marantz 6004's (previous models) and they extremely musical if you want good separates on a tight budget. :3
