Still going.... certainly not strong in my opinion... mixed bag recently.. somewhere else was shocking and the newy is too bitty...

This is a good album though! and at least you dont have to pay upfront six months before release like the bands stupid loyalty thing...

Excellent album, (Although I prefer the later Steve Hogarth era albums) Well worth getting.

"Fish's last and arguably one of his best albums with Marillion."

Arguably not anywhere near Script or Fugazi.

You didn't need to pay up front for their new albums either.
Just wait for the official release and pay for it like any normal album.
Some of us were prepared to fund them to make it in the first place however.
Somewhere Else was pretty average but Marbles and Happiness is the Road are great, in my opinion.
Hmmm, Hogarth or Fish? I know which one is better.

Really good consistent album. Newer stuff is very patchy. Heat on price though.

I'd agree with that - Script is for me their best album too though Clutching at Straws runs Fugazi a very close second. Its certainly a better album than Misplaced Childhood though, which was always over rated imo...

fish said this was their best album and i don't think he was clutching:thumbsup:
#15
It's certainly my favourite of the 4 Fish era albums.

Script is an amazing album, every track a belter. An album I could listen to every day.

As an aside has anyone here put on 'Grendel' on the pub jukebox 7 times in a row back in the days when you got 7 plays for a quid? I did once, they turned it off on the 5th play... Happy Days!

Ah happy days, trying to track down 12" versions of Assassins, Garden Party and He Knows You Know. Not to mention the well loved Betamax copy of their low budget videos. As you may have guessed I loved Script and Fugazi best, but Clutching at Straws is brilliant too imo. No-one will ever replace Fish in my affections; he may have sported a receding hairline and been a fraction too old for that pony tail towards the end of his Marillion days but I loved him! For £2.99 I'd buy it myself if I didn't already own every available version of it so great post!

Brilliant Album, Fish's lyrics... stand up as poetry in their on right...

Burn a little brighter now...

Brilliant album. Probably showing it's age a bit, but if you like powerful melodic well-crafted pop songs with intelligent witty thought provoking lyrics, this is unmissable.

As a hardcore Marillion fan, I'd agree it's only the 3rd best 'Fish' album, but it's much more mature and accessible to the average Joe than Fugazi or Script IMO.

Sorry Hogarth fans... but don't make me laugh. He's OK & I'm pleased they have kept going as a band through everything, but face facts. They will never recapture the heights of the Fish era.

This is a beautiful record for a bargain price. Worth the money for Rothery's guitar work alone.

I recall when Script came out being quite disappointed with it, having heard most of the tracks live many times prior to the album I didn't think they transferred to vinyl particularly well. However coming back to it roughly 25 years later ( boy that makes me feel old...) I could also listen to it all the time.

LOL, can't recall seeing Grendel on a jukebox. Incidentally I think the version on the new 'Early Stages' box set from Reading '83 is a real stormer.
