Got to say - Kayleigh is an all time classic track -
Good spot had this album on vinyl years ago it is a classic. Will buy at this price.
Heat added
Lots of Kids got called Kayleigh on the back of this - Grendel was not such a popular name.

We've got one of them. A Kayleigh that is!:)
This is an excellent buy for the price.
Everyone loves the song Kayleigh, but it's only one of many many gems from this band, who are one of the most underrated ever.
This compilation consists of a track or 2 from their early period when they were at the peak of their creative powers. Not all of these are album tracks, there are a few B-sides in there, but make no mistake, the B-sides are some of the very best.

Grendel - is a wonderful musical interpretation of the novel of the same name (part of the Beowulf legend, from the perspective of the monster). It's a joy. Typical beautiful melodies & strong riffs with Fish at his lyrical brilliant best

He Knows You Know - is one of the (many) high points of the first album Script for a Jester's Tear. All about drug abuse & the associated paranoia, it's a typical Marillion fusion of vitriolic angry lyrics and beautiful soaring melodies.

Jigsaw - A beautiful ballad of despair over lost love from their second (and arguably finest) album Fugazi.

Punch & Judy - Also from Fugazi, and also beautiful. The subject is the breakdown of Fish's first marriage.

Cinderella Search - Originally a B-Side and a firm crowd favourite, a contemporary live version was released but the studio version never made it onto an album until years later, when a B-sides compilation was released.

Kayleigh / Lavender - No comments necessary, we all know these wonderful songs. I hope they include the full Kayleigh guitar solo and don't butcher the the middle section out of it like they did for radio & compilation albums back in the day.

Lady Nina - Originally the B-side of 'Incommunicado' first single off the wonderful swansong 'Clutching at Straws album'.

Torch Song - Perhaps Mariliion's most beautiful song ever (yes, more beautiful even than Kayleigh). Torch song is a lament for the the 'perfect love', and for young adulthood. Both unfulfilled and both now lost forever.

For 2 quid this is an absolute steal. Hardcore Marillion fans will find nothing new here, but for the casual listener who likes Kayleigh & maybe one or two others, but would not really call themselves a fan, this deal is perfect and it would certainly be money well spent.

Even 25 years on, fans of 'Fish' Marillion are as die-hard as ever, and are adamant that these songs set a high watermark for 'pop music with intelligence' which has not yet been surpassed. That's open to debate. But certainly Marillion were and still are criminally underrated as a creative force. This is a collection of timeless highpoints and unheard gems for less than the price of a pint. It's a total no-brainer. Buy it.
