is this any different apart from being in 3d, if so isn't it about time nintendo stopped churning out the same old games on new formats and actually get round to making something like a mario kart 2

There are quite a few games that I don't feel the need to update my collection to 3D, however Mario Kart is a classic game and would probably be good in 3D. Also looking forward to Legend of Zelda - Yes its an ancient game but also a good one and again hopefully even better in 3D.

It's mario kart theres no need to change it, if they changed it so it was no longer mario kart it wouldn't sell.

This version will be GC/Wii graphics in a portable format + 3D, so an improvement over the DS version. This probably won't be out until closer to Christmas though, Ocarina of Time, Star Fox and Kid Icarus all have to come from Nintendo before this.

I love the mario kart games, but Nintendo's gonna have to stop creating this game purely once per console. its getting a bit boring now.

Nothing wrong with Mario Kart on any platform. No way.

...it also might not be this year...

So, do they take your money now and earn your interest?

i've enjoyed every single mario kart on all nintendo consoles, i'm surprised this one is taking so long to come out.

i never said that i don't love mario kart but surely it's time to add a whole load of new tracks and power ups, instead of the same game over and over again

They've only ever released one version for each console. The 3DS is a separate platform to the DS, thus this looks to be continuing Nintendo's strategy.

And what would you consider a mario kart 2? To me the addition of new tracks, new characters. 3d tracks (snes to n64), new gameplay styles (double dash), new weapons, individual power ups, new karts and bikes, mini games, weight classes and vehicle weight matching all sound like changes between the versions. What part of that doesn't sound like upgrades to you?

little changes here and there don't really add up to being a new game and it's only one title per console, well im sure you're looking forward to super smash bros 3d and super mario world 3d as well as nintendogs 3d and donkey kong 3d,, its the same game with a little tweak here and there ported over to every new console that nintendo makes. can't wait for the wii hd and the amazing line up of nintendo games for that, let me guess, mario kart hd wow who would have thought of that, super mario bros hd ( for the first time ever view the mario bros in hd, what a crock of **** ) and yeah you guessed it super smash bros hd

mario kark rules. its the reason i have bought a wii / ds / gc

It would have been out if it wasnt for the other game developers who nintendo said would get launch priority in order to delay the exclusive nintendo releases

ill wait patiently for MK 3DS

Great price! Great Game!

I thought the 3DS had an accelerometer/tilt control in it? Surely Mario kart will make use of this so it's more like it is on the Wii?

Otherwise all the 3DS offers is 3D - which most people either turn down to minimum or off.

Except it's step up in power from the DS, just as the DS was from the GBA.

It has to offer the games that take advantage of that.

I personally would want to use the circle pad to control the game, not one of the gimmicks used to increase the customer base so it will probably include both options just like Mario Kart wii did. If it doesn't they are losing one side of the sales.

If you don't like Nintendo's 1st party games, you don't buy a Nintendo console.
Simple.

I bet every single person in this thread who pre-orders this, cancels it and reorders elsewhere in six months time when it enevitably chepaer elsewhere.

Deal? Unlikely.

What is all the hate for Nintendo producing a new Mario Kart game every few years? Same as FIFA, COD, Medal Of Honour, PGA, etc.

Personally I will be ordering this when it comes out, but no point splashing the cash this far in advance.

That's not what I asked. I asked you what you would consider to be Mario Kart 2. As in, if you were to make Mario Kart 2 what features would you add that would make it a true sequel?

well how about 18-24 new tracks for starters, maybe a create your own tracks mode that you can upload online for multiplayer, more than 8 cars per race, maybe an elimination mode i.e if you are in last place for about 30 seconds you are eliminated. is that enough for you
