Went into my local Game store today to trade in Breath of the Wild for the Switch, and the person serving me informed me that if I waited for the promotion, I could only pay £9.99 for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe when I trade in Breath of the Wild.

She didn't say when the promotion would go live, but likely some time in the coming week given its release nearing.

Also no word on whether this is the only game that will be able to be traded in towards Mario Kart for this price.

EDIT: I understand that this is not the cheapest place to buy the game, and that Amazon and Tesco direct are selling it for £42, however if you are looking to trade in Zelda and pick up Mario Kart, using this is a cheaper method than getting cash from CEX, or from purchasing from CEX with credit all together assuming they also stick to the £49.99 MSRP at release.

I'm not sure if this is actually a deal or not as just by looking at GAME's trade in checker for the Wii U version you get £31 (they don't show the Switch version) but I'd assume you'd get more for the Switch copy naturally

You could be right there, I also tried to trade in a pair of neon joy-cons but they didn't have the price on the system for that either. She might have just been trying to be polite to try and get me to come back later when the trade in prices have been uploaded.

i appreciate that Game stick with MSRP and that there are cheaper places to get new releases like supermarkets or Amazon, but for people that like me have finished Zelda, and have trade in credit with game, some people might like to know about the promotion

That's actually not too bad if you're after Mario Kart, they're basically giving you £40 for it. Meanwhile CEX will only give £26 cash or £31 voucher for Zelda now

not really as you can get MK8 Deluxe on Amazon for £40

Rip off.

Most people paid £40-£45 for zelda new (only a month ago) so you are getting mario kart for £50-£55 by paying the £10 on top

Ah dear old GAME how are you still in business and more importantly why do people still use them and fall for their so called "deals"

This is badly worded. Game trade in price for Zelda on Switch and Wii U is 40 store credit. You don't have to buy Mario Kart and the amount they give can change anytime.

Cash is 26 or 28 FYI.

Promotion? haha only at game.

Its cool to bash game now so everyone gets their pennys worth in...this is actually decent...not great but decent....if you sell botw to cex then your gonna pay 15 pound ontop...if u sell on ebay your not getting 32 cash back in pocket to equal this deal...

By that logic it cost you £10 to £15 for a months worth of Zelda. Worth every penny.

Trade in prices are bad a lot of the time, think that's why it's gone so cold I could easily get 40 quid for this on eBay

People bash Game because they're a ripoff, not because it's cool. There are also other options apart from CEX and Ebay where you will get more.

That is a good question, how are Game in business? Go to one of their stores on a Saturday and you find a queue twice around the store! Why? I can only assume it is ignorance and laziness. Parents who aren't aware where to get the stuff cheaper and/ or can't be bothered trying to persaude their little angels to wait a few days for the postman.

You're not telepathic dude. I voted cold because even £40 isn't remotely noteworthy for a standard edition of a game on another platform, so I don't regard it as noteworthy for the Switch. Nintendo aren't some magical brand that I am willing to give more money to for a product.

This isn't the standard edition though is it, it contains all the DLC from the original plus the new battle modes, new battle mode arenas and some new characters.

There's no version for the Switch that doesn't include the DLC, therefore it is the standard version.

the actual quote was I voted cold because even £40 isn't remotely noteworthy for a standard edition of a game on another platform implying the Switch version was the same as the standard version from the Wii U

I didn't say 'standard edition of this game', I was talking about any game on any platform.
Since you're talking about extra content from an older version though: There were TLOU Remastered pre-order deals for around £30. This one for £35 went cold.
I wouldn't vote hot on that game for £40, and I won't vote hot on this game for £40.

That last of us deal was 3 months after release and why it was so cold...this hasnt been released and mario kart will hold its resale value for lot longer than tlou.

3 months after release, wat? I don't know where you're getting that from, the official release date was 30/7/2014 in Europe. This was a pre-order.

'I've used The Game Collection a number of times and they have been excellent with pre orders, usually delivering the day before release.'

It was cold because there were other deals around the same time where it could be gotten for ~£30. Here's one for £29.97.

I don't care if Mario Kart will hold its resale value (partly due to people willing to pay more just for the Nintendo brand). The Switch does not exist in a vacuum.
£40 is not a good deal for a new PS4/XB1 game and £40 is not a good deal for a new Switch game.

I lost £30 in 2 years on nintendo console wii u with mario kart...dont know why or care why nintendo hold their value but its made a difference to me a few times

If people weren't so willing to pay more for games just because they're on a Nintendo system, then you would see better deals.
As for resale, I'm not you. It doesn't matter to me. I care about the price of a new game. I am not willing to pay more for a game just because it's associated with Nintendo.

Ha...thats right..you arent me.and for a person who doesnt care about resale value...do you realize your chatting on a trade in deal.....re sale
