Anyone know if I can buy this and register it for a free game from my PC? It could be months yet before I pick up a Wii U to go with it.

You can but you'll need to use the download code on your Wii U by the end of September.

I don't see why not. You register the game at the Club Nintendo Website. You then select your game and a download code should appear. Make sure you keep it safe.

You can, you'll get a code to activate on your Wii U by October.

From Nintendo:
The download code can be used to download the chosen game from Nintendo eShop to any Wii U console**. The download code expires on September 30th 2014, 22:59 (UK time).

Just need a cheap console deal to go with this

Is it silly I don't own a Wii U yet but am tempted by this?! :P

Heat given. Certainly a better deal that paying circa £15 extra for that silly children's toy.

Game gets boring when u reach like 3k online elo, something about being hit by every shell in the world gets tiresome....

Although, local multiplayer with your friends is still hilarious no matter what.

Tried to cancel my Amazon order of £45 for the limited edition for this, but couldn't. Ah well. Might be able to sell of in future for a lot if I keep the box and item in good condition
#13
Fantastic game but Nintendo really do need to cut £50-70 off the RRP to encourage sales. Despite the initial sales surge, the sales of the console have dropped quite a bit, the game hasn't revived the Wii U like some were expecting. This was a console hitting 33-35k weekly worldwide over the long term, now dropped to 50k worldwide weekly after the initial surge after MK8s release, and once the MK8 hype drops, should be back down to 30k weekly again.

People just aren't interested in the machine, which is a shame. This is pretty much this gens Dreamcast(Though at this point, I believe the Dreamcast had more units sold).

You can and that's what I did. I bought Mario Kart before a Wii U so I registered an account with Club Nintendo using the PIN from MK8 which also registered the game. After I logged out and then back in again and the promotion to claim the free game was shown.

It trades back in at Game for £10, too. If I hadn't already bought this at launch and had all the games I fancied as a free download already I'd have bought this for the download and traded it back in. Wind Waker, Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3 and Monster Hunter are easily worth £10 each!
Hot deal even if you already own MK8 considering the free download offer!
#19
Is it the same price instore?

I'm so tempted to buy this even though I don't have a Wii U! MK8 + Windwaker HD for £30? Wow. Definately won't be able to buy both of those games for that price for a year or more, if ever... The original Gamecube version of Windwaker is still £18 after all!

My nearest CeX is a two hour drive away so not an option for me unfortunately! Traded in online with them once took them weeks to pay me

that's great, ordered thanks. For those looking for a deal on a console I think the £199.99 bundle on amazon is pretty good with Just Dance 2014, Nintendo Land, Wii U Party and 2 remotes, was posted previously but expired but is currently available. Combined with Mario Kart 8 and the free download game is a pretty good bundle for a total of £230. It's only the basic model but you can use a usb stick or hard drive so not a major issue for many.

Agreed, best deal atm.

Hmmm, judging by the volume this game has been traded in at, this may be one of thoses situations where they are spending out 'mint' copies of the games which are unsealed and the club nintendo codes are gone. Tred carefully...

out of interest, how do you know the volume at which this has been traded in at. I was in game meadowhall at the weekend looking at preowned games, and only saw a couple of copies there.

Don't own a WiiU yet...ordered anyway.

Great price. Although a little worrying its dropped to this price already, particularly from Game who usually the last to drop. Maybe its to compensate for the lack of sales in store where its been priced at £49.99 since launch!

There'll be a lot of copies returned if that's the case...

Then you're stuck with CeX credit which you can used to buy the usually overpriced goods with. At least with GAME the credit can be used online (avoid the bad instore prices). If the CeX is within a mile of the GAME I think you would have to be mad [at GAME] to turn up £33 credit+"free" game for £30 spend.

Given how CeX currently have 608 copies I wonder if their values can hold for much longer.

That is quite some conspiracy theory you've got going there. The mint games are unsealed because they are put out on a shelf to display; not because they are trade-ins.

If you've been in a GAME store in the last several years you would know that they refuse returns if you've opened the game.

soapy - I think you'll find GAME are usually first to drop the price of a new release (eg skyrim, wolfenstein, south park, far cry 3, borderlands 2 etc etc) in which most dropped by half.
Just a good deal I think

looks like I'm joining the buying MK8 before I buy a Wii U club :0)

So true! Most addictive game I've played in years.

Voted hot! Ordered straight away, great price, thanks. I finally took the plunge and bought the £189.99 Wii U bundle with Assassin's Creed IV (from thegamecollection.net) a couple of days ago, waiting for it to be delivered. With the great price for the console, the free game offer from Nintendo and the promise of Smash Bros Wii U and Zelda Wii U in the future, getting it was a no brainer.

Just phoned the store in Belfast and they said its still full price (49.99!) in store so hopefully I've saved someone a trip
