Mario Kart Wii instore at Asda for £27.71

Ok, this must be the cheapest Mario Kart you can get in the UK without codes, trade-in or vouchers.
Just picked up two copies at £27.71 each. As I mentioned in another post, they were scanning at this yesterday but I couldn't collect until this morning. This was Asda Carcroft, Doncaster. Cashier said they were going to be the cheapest in the country.

Great price I think, kids will be well chuffed. If you vote cold could you say why. I realise this may not be every Asda and they will fly out at this price but it is cheap.

I have no reason to lie but I will scan the receipt later if anyone really needs proof. I am at school just now and teaching is a bit more important.

Just out of interest, did anyone pay £32.71 for this after midnight at Asda?

I was tempted to go to a larger Asda at midnight but was too tired to play anyway...and I saved a fiver by having some sleep first.
#2
ASDA Southport also at £27.71 when scanned yesterday and was told that would be the price today.
#3
i bought mine from asda this morning and it was £32.71????
#4
i bought in aberdeen for £32.71 at 12:20 amthis morning.

wasn't there a newspaper scan yesterday saying £32.71 - would seem wierd to change so quickly

I am guessing that this is to do with Demographics. Big, modern Asda stores selling at that advertised price because of footfall and perhaps a better location. Stores like this selling cheaper as they are less modern and local customers may be less 'affluent'.
Then again , this is the store that tried to sell Endless Ocean at £27.71 when it only retailed at £19.99 and Morrisons were selling for £16 so what does that tell you?

Still, surely that should not affect the heat on this post.
#6
I thought Supermarket chains had to sell at the same price regardless of location.
#7
Cold for me-Asda at Killingbeck,Leeds is £32.71
#8
was this for game alone or game and steering wheel? (is it even sold without the wheel, i am presuming it is cos there were 2 different packages displayed but no prices!)

at 7.20 this morning i paid £32.71 at Asda in Spennymoor with the wheel.
Any further explanation about the cheaper Asda price??
#9
i am voting hot because you got it at the asda at carcroft. that's the one i go too!

this was bugging me so ive now spoken to my Asda this mornin and also the Southport store mentioned above and both confirmed the selling price as £32.71
The store manager confirmed that pricing on such an item would/could only differ between Asda stores if a particular store was located in a very competitive area and took an initial hit to maintain its market share. So if they were located in a centre where a games shop was opening at midnight to sell Mario Kart the manager has the ability and flexibility to match that store for a limited time period only. Other Asda stores do not have to follow that lead or price match.

The Southport store at 8.50 this morning said they hadnt sold any at any price and that they hadnt launched the product yet!

Clearly not eh?

I have to say that voting cold because your local store seems a bit unfair. I would have thought you voted on the strength of the deal as it is posted. In this case, certain Asda stores are clearly selling at £27.71.

That your local Asda is not one of them is unfortuntate. Like so many good deals, they are limited...like this one. By this afternoon I expect all stock will be gone especially at that price. Would that make it a 'cold' deal?

It makes no difference to me as I have two copies but I guess it could put people off posting such deals if they were voted cold unneccesarily. Just trying to share my deal with you guys.

Bear in mind also that this might be a barcode price error in cerain stores or simply limited to a certain time but no one has said. However, in certain stores this morning (that have stock) you clearly can get Mario Kart for £27.71. It just seems to be a case of pop in and get it scanned.

I was just happy for a copy at all given how my Play preorder was not fulfilled and many places have limited stock. The Doncaster store said they had quite a few!
#13
Its on the shelves in Asda where I live (Herts) clearly priced up at £32.71. It scans in at £32.71. The £27 price is not nationwide and limited to a handful of stores.
#14
Not sure either of us knows how 'limited' it is yet. There are a few stores that have it at this price. Someone here said they rang Southport and it was £32.71 but someone else stated that it SCANNED at £27.71 at Southport. Again, instore only, gotta pop in and try your luck.

I just got this for this price at Sainsburys too (it is the version that includes the wheel )

I can walk to Sainsburys but would have to drive across town to Asda so for 16p, I figured I could
do with the exercise anyway!

Yeah, same here, but then for the price I'm prepared to wait a week as I still haven't finished Metroid Prime which I'll do this weekend.

I take it back, just checked my email and it's shipped, I'd guess a Monday delivery then.

£32.71 at Stockport ASDA ... the woman sounded like she was fed up of telling people the price of the game!
#23
Sorry, I forgot to say that this is the one with the wheel at Asda. I was suprised to see how small the box.
#24
meh, paying a tenner more to get the game a day earlier was well worth it IMO
#25
Excellent deal for those with a Asda nearby selling it at this price and sainsburys too ! I will definetly check out the sainsburys 5 minutes away before heading to GAME thats really far away so thanks for the info. :)
#26
great price fora great game!
#27
I got mine yesterday from Play.Com for £29 - I was in the world top 50 for about 5 minutes.......

Not voting either way since not all ASDAs seem to be selling it at stated price and my nearest store is nearly 70 miles away. Whereas my nearest Sainsburys is only 25 miles away : http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/169373/mario-kart-27-97-wii-sainsbury-s/

for what it's worth omisnad, I think it's your Sainsburys post that should be the hot deal here, not
this ambiguous Asda one... there's no accounting for people

The online but is excellent actually almost a match for my xbox360 and pc games....but you cant talk to other players (good) and it costs nothing (yet anyway - good)!

Then post that instead. I was trying to share my good 'find'. Too many people seem to wanna shoot these down if they are not 'convenient' for their personal situation or location. If I had to drive 25 miles I wouldn't have bothered. And I would have happily paid £32.71 for this just to get it today....this was a bonus.

And it is not ambiguous, no more than a deal at Argos or Pc World where, unless you are the very first to get in, you never seem to get. It is not consistent, agreed, but certainly not ambiguous; I have a receipt to prove it is not that.
#34
it wasn't intended to be a personal dig at you splinters
'inconsistant' would have been a better word than 'ambiguous' and I apologise

what I meant was that omisnad's Sainsbury post was just as good as your Asda
deal but nobody was voting for it

Chill out Splinters, like i said in my deal topic - I aint saying the ASDA deal is no good, i just dont see why BOTH deals cant make it to the hot pages so that people can decide which is most convient for them ASDA or Sainsburys. For the record, i phoned my 'local' ASDA (Bodmin) and they are selling it with the wheel at your stated price - so ill give you some heat and rep now ;-) . Unfortunately i have to drive 25 miles away, since thats my nearest town. Most online shops have not been selling the game online this week and those that were couldnt guarantee they would have enough stock to cover demand (with the exception of shopto.net which are selling it for £39.99). Anyway they are currently building an ASDA 12 miles from me, unfortunately as part of the planning permission they are not allowed to sell anything other than food.

Paid £32.71 for it in my local Tesco in Sandhurst, 3 left on the shelves :)

Bummer - looks like ASDA or Sainsburys is the best deal then. Still its a great game and worth the £32.71 of anyones money none the less.
#38
Voted Hot!!!! I paid £29.99 at Play which I thought was good until I saw this!

elsie and ominsad, no problem at all guys. I voted hot for the Sainsbury deal too. I have no affiliation with Asda. Like all you guys, just trying to get a good deal for everyone.

Hope there is still stock for you guys in one store or the other...:)

None at Tesco Macclesfield, nor the Sainsbury's up the road either. The Tesco had a label up, but that was at £32 something.
