Musckovy duck is better than regular duck down and as good or better than most goose down. It shares some qualities with super expensive eider down.

50% off the whole range plus free delivery.

10.5 Tog: £60 single - £85 double - £100 king - £115 super king.
13.5 Tog: £70 single - £90 double - £120 king - £140 super king.

It all gets pulled off birds killed for meat. Ideally we wouldn't kill them for meat but given that we do it would be a shame to not recycle their feathers.

Live plucking is a fairly obscure and very cruel thing that goes on in Asia like a lot of cruel stuff does :(

I wish that were true but if you do a bit of reading it turns out something like 80% of down comes from live plucking in China and Poland and it is a horrendously painful torture for the bird

You are right to be worried, that is why it is worth getting one from a reputable retailer like M&S and not off a cheap internet place. M&S state the following

M&S Non-food Animal Welfare Products Policy

"No animal will be slaughtered specifically for the production of M&S products. Only by-products of the meat industry will be used."

"Feather and Down must not be obtained from the live plucking of birds or from birds used in the production of Foie Gras"
