Marks & Spencers all sale stuff 20p to £1

went into Marks and Spencers today and they had all their adult clothing reduced to £1, xmas decs cards etc 20p-50p and childrens to 50p, does'nt matter what it says on the sticker price it will be changed at the till.
I got quite a few bits and noticed in Mens wear suits that were over £250 would have been £2 for jacket and trousers!!!

Not sure if this is in all Marks and Spencers, I think it started today so you will have to be quick if you want to get some bargains.

I have noted that there is a simliar post but that was saying different prices, the store I went to was in Watford

#2
what about on line?
#3
Had a look online, does'nt appear to be on there.

I got a pair of £40 Autograph Jeans, £40 Autograph work trousers, pair of £40 Autograph heels for £2.96 because of VAT discount

Bath store had good reductions, but not to the level Jessica1 found. Cheapest menswear items (s/sleeve shirts) were £5 but all suit trousers were still labelled £15.

Womenswear had better reductions, but mainly large sizes or from the Classics range.
Few pairs of shoes left, I bought two pairs that were £1 and £3 so I'm more than happy!

All the stuff I saw was labelled up £10 or £15, it was only when I got to the till that they told me that all adults clothing/shoes were £1

M&S always have decent sale reductions. I've picked stuff up in the past for a pound, such as a pack of 3 baby vests and other kids items. Puts Debenhams to shame. They are still trying to flog last seasons baby outfits at £8 or £9. Voted hot.

Italian Suits jacket £10, trousers to match £3, originally £179 for suit, bought two my hubby who is over the moon
beautiful dresses £5 originally £70 bought about 10 now i just need a few nights out to wear them all,
most of the stuff left now has been kicked around the floor in my local store but some excellent bargains still to be had, all stores seem to be different
i bought that much i needed car service!!!

Don't bother if you are in Cardiff, it's already empty :(

I wonder if these sales are at the stores that M&S has announced they are shutting down.

I was at both the Watford M&S and the Big M&S on Oxford street in London today and there were no sales of anything like whats being reported. I best I did was three pair of clearance pant for £10. But these had been marked down multiple times already.

Thought they are only closing some Simply Food stores?? From what I heard, they are nationwide. The cardiff one just had the whole 3 floors renovated, definitely they are not closing down. The sales section only has a few rails and quite well hidden, you might have to look harder :p
#22
If the price isn't on the sticker, how do you know which suits, etc, are super cheap? Are there signs showing the prices?

Edit: Ah, I just noticed that the op said the 1 quid price wasn't marked at all on the garments.
#23
Guess the only way is to take it to the till and check it. My local has reached the final stage so they had put a red board on top of the rails saying all clearance £2

Sorry but I was waiting on the women folk for over an hour and wandered to every square corner of the place. No big sales except for a very small patch of clearance stuff at one checkout and nobody was jumping up and down about having paid a quid for a suit while I waited in line.

Just managed to rush out to the Cheshunt (Brookfield farm) shop, but really wished I hadn't !!

They had 1 rail of mixed men's suit trousers/Jackets but it was really a very poor selection and not the £1 bargains mentioned - cheapest was £69 jacket trousers £29 and yes the till confirmed the price. Anything left was very second rate and not stuff you would probably want - everything more jumble sale than M&S and not that much of a bargain !

Each department seemed to have 1 sale rail with a big red sign above it - but again anything left was a bit second hand and looked like it could be around next Christmas !
#26
if this is anything like to matalan one, then this is hot. Only downfall for me is that in Biggers cities there is hardly any bargain, i miss my small town sales. use to pick up many bargains from there

Is this an offer only in those stores rumored to be shut down soon by M&S... and why is it such an awesome sale was not publicised ?? I hope theres someting left in the reading store tomorrow morning :-(

Great catch on the deal though.. heat added !!

It's just the tail ends of the sale that's been going on since Christmas, most stores will only have a few rails left and they'll be towards the back of the store / well hidden somewhere. Which stores have what is purely down to stock they have left and want rid of, nothing to do with if they're closing down.

These sale reductions are nothing new at Marks and Spencer. They are genuine end of sale reductions. Everything that is reduced in M&S sale is further reduced until cleared. Stores are not allowed to return bits a pieces to distribution centres as it is cheaper to sell them off at a silly price to save handling costs. This has always been the case it is nothing to do with the closure of the unprofitable stores.
You may have also noticed that this year the M&S sale has a lot less stock and has finished early, this is because M&S reduced its buying last year to save on mark down costs (credit crunch). Unlike other retailers M&S does not buy goods in especially for the sale, it also does not put prices up before the sale then reduce them back down again for the sale.

Not much left in Lowestoft this afternoon....some baby clothes and few adults clothes.

I got a few bits in Bluewater this morning, I think it's a case of being in the right place at the right time, I got:

Autograph strapless dress £59 down to £5
3 bras £1 each
suspender belt £1
two make up bags with lotions in 7.50 down to 50p each

It seemed to me that these were just the last of the sale bits they were clearing out as Bluewater certainly isn't closing down, I wouldn't bother taking another trip, as quick as stuff was being put out it was being snapped up - as I picked up two make up bags a woman scooped the rest of them off the shelf! I can guess what her family will be geting next xmas!

How come whenever I come on here to try and find a bargain, someone always has to bring other things into it.

If you want to discuss politics then go somewhere else.

I have removed the off topic and thread spoiling posts. The deals section is not the place to discuss these issues. Members that continue this, will receive infractions
