anyone believe into the hype that marth, villager and wii fit trainer have been discontinued?

I really can't see it, less than a month after launch
#7
Villager and wii fit i can believe cause who would want them lol
#8
I give it an hour before theyre sold out
#9
Collectors want them! Personally I find the Wii Fit trainer the most interesting, as its just bizarre to put that into a fighting game. Sadly not a lot of shelf space these days though.

The concept? Basically yes! With but a ton more potential that fits within the Nintendo ecosystem - and it:they will only evolve.

The quality of these figures are astonishing; the infinity and skylanders figures pale in comparison, it's pathetic

The quality of some of these are terrible. Not sure what you are talking about there.

Such as?

Marth and Peach for example. Some of them have terrible paint jobs although tbf it only applies to the complex characters, so for those I would suggest getting them from a store instead of online.

I only have Link but it doesn't seems significantly better quality than my sons Skylanders IMO. The **** coloured post he is balanced on doesn't scream quality tbh or the big chunk of his thigh missing you can see through said post where it connects.

Are these like Skylanders ?

Nabbed the last Wii Fit Trainer (I think, as it says OOS now). Marth appeared to show in stock briefly too so nabbed that as well. Shows OOS now?

Hopefully thats the three controversially 'rare' ones gotten now so I don't have to scour the eBay scalpers in the future after the New 3DS is released. :)

yes only they don't do as much as Skylanders. If they really are putting the more obscure ones out of print straight away they won't bother unlocking stuff with them as nobody will have them to unlock the stuff. So a lot of them will only be usable as a training AI character in Smash Bros

Thank you, because the children at my sons school have been talking about them but I've only really seen them in Toys r us and heard nothing about them until the last week or so. They are only compatible with wii U at moment I understand that with the view to opening them up to different platforms later on. It seems like they were rushed out for Christmas.

Quite honestly I'm hoping that someone in Hong Kong manages to crack the code inside the chips in these things so that it's possible to just buy some cheap coins to unlock all this stuff. It's not on to need to have silly figures just to open content in some games.

yes, currently they only work with the Wii U console and about 3 games. They don't really do a lot unlike Skylanders. In Mario Kart 8, ten of them unlock some costumes for your Mii characters that should just be available, also it's worth noting that there's a lot more than ten Amiibo figures, the lesser known characters do nothing. In Hyrule Warriors, the Zelda figures unlock a few weapons.

Currently the 'big thing' with these figures is that in Smash Brothers you can put your figurine on the gamepad and it unlocks a special version of that character that you can fight against to train, and set it to fight against other Amiibo. So across between Skylanders and Pokemon... sort of. The 'data' it learns is then saved back into the chip in the base of the figurine. Functionally this could have been done entirely in software and a memory card with no figures.

In the future they'll work with the 3DS, when they release an adapter for old 3DSes and the technology is built into the new ones.

Thanks. Managed to snag a shulk pre-order

Typical, the one day I don't check in the evening and this pops up, Marth is still (back?) in stock so I grabbed one but Wii Fit Trainer is gone again :(

EDIT: As soon as I finished my order they were back in stock, go go buy :P
