Mass Effect 2 the sequel to the brilliant 1st game is on special deal at Argos for £29.99 which is even cheaper than gameplay after using their £5 voucher.

A great deal for what is without a doubt going to be a great game. 1st review just dropped giving it a handsome 9.5 / 10 by OXM (and yes I know this is the official xbox mag before PS3 flamers start spewing bile!!)

What are Argos like with delivery?
#2
They get it to you for the day of release.
#3
Voted hot for the price, but I'll reserve judgment on the game for another time as the first Mass Effect was so awful.
#4
Not an Xbox owner but still a top top price hot !

That's PC, not 360. This deal is for the 360 version. As for it being crap, I liked it. Especially the bit where you got to punch a reporter in the face - and the big decision at the end of the game was a great choice to throw at the player. It wasn't a clear good or evil choice, but a morally grey one.

The Amazon deal has exclusive 'Inferno' armour.

So I think i'll be sticking with that.

game of the year... quote me

Lets face it, the first one was boring as hell for the first part so I hope this is better.

Im so torn between the pc or xbox version :(
Id like to carry on my save but I want the better loading and graphics of the pc version.
AHHHH!!

First Mass Effect is my favourite game of this entire generation. Bioware are top of their game, and their story presentation is second to none. Gameplay is sharp as hell too. Let's hope this lives up to the hype!

Thanks for reposting this, I did have my order with Amazon, and although the armour looks cool I have some armour from DA that I can use instead, plus the idea of getting the game on release day is a little nicer than having to wait until whenever Amazon feels like delivering (with super saver).

Edit: Hmm, just realised on my confirmation e-mail it says a signature will be required for the delivery? Do they not just send via post? Because that might make things a bit trickier...

And a hell of a lot better than the generic fantasy ******** that was Dragon Age.

Just reserve your judgement anyway, Mass Effect is one of the best games ever made :?

What? People hated Mass Effect? As a PS3 owner who was really anti-360, Mass Effect was the only game (other than Fable II) that i was really jealous of 360 owners getting. Thankfully it was released on PC about a year later and it lived up to my expectations.

The only thing that worries me about Mass Effect 2 is that they're releasing the game on the 360 and PC at the same time so PC owners could end up with a bad port. I do have a 360 in the house now but i hate using it for anything other than Fable II so will take the risk and get ME2 on PC.

LOL at this - mass effect 1 was really awesome

How frustrating that it isn't on the PS3. The first one is brilliant, and this is the one exclusive i wish was on the PS3 as well. :-(

Argos use 1st Class Recorded Delivery for pre-ordered games. If you aren't home, it goes back to the sorting office.

Depends on the title: they were 2 days late with COD:MW2 for me, not complaining though as it was a good pre-order price.
#24
Thanks for clearing that up, it's a shame the game can't be reserved instore for that price as it'd be just easier to pick it up from a store than have to be at home to sign for.

Also, for the record, I thought Mass Effect and Dragon Age were both excellent games. Both weren't without their flaws, but I can't think of many games I've played in the last few years that I've spent as much time on or enjoyed as much.
#25
I agree with the previous poster about the first mass effect. It was okay for a while then I got really bored and sold it.
#26
It's only £28.99 here, also free delivery:

http://www.thegamecollection.net/mass-effect-2-xbox-360-p-3138.html

Never pre-ordered using them, so can't guarantee delivery on release, but a good price and they have delivered well in the past!
#27
I will be downloading it for free before deciding to buy it or not :-)

Because I am ace. Arf Arf.

Has anyone heard anything about the tin edition?

AFAIK the Limited Collectors Edition is exclusive to GAME, so there won't really be any deals for it due to lack of competition.

I'll be sticking with the standard edition for now & grab the Ltd Ed. when it drops in price a bit :)

You should of bought the pc version in steam deal over the holiday £3.25 I got both the xbox and pc versions now and I must say that PC version is superior in every way! Playing through at the moment to get the save file ready

Anyone who does not like this game is entitled to their opinion, but personally sick of the orcs and eleves genre of rpg this was a refreshing change

Indeed, this will sell by the bucket load. All the 360-owners I know are looking at buying this at release. The first one was ace.

As for this deal itself - can anyone else confirm how good Argos are at delivering on release date? Also do they send out by recorded delivery? I hope not or else it'll go back to the sorting office!
#36
It seems to be saying 38.99 now. is that it back to that price now?
