As above, don't know if this is in-store only (can't see it on the website) or maybe even store specific but seemed a good deal to me!

Reminds me of when they were selling COD4 for £4.99 with any other purchase, heat added.
#3
Same as Gamestation but only when bought with MoH.
#4
MOH only
#5
Definitely buy anything in store, not just MoH :

Hmmm, sorry about the pic but it is anything in store, we bought the 2010 Guiness Book of Gamer world records for £4.99 with it !
#7
In the Leeds Crown Point store, they had written on the sticker in felt tip, MOH only.
#8
I got it in Bournemouth Saturday - with any other purchase. Suggest arguing the point!
#9
I work at Game in the birmingham Palasades, At the moment we have it with Moh, But after a week we will change it too the anything in store.
Some stores will do that before us I believe.
#10
Picked this up at GAME in Kingston, deal was when bought with anything else in store, great price!
#11
Would it work if you bought the Reach controller for £22.99, and this? That would be a cracking deal!

Try the "bargain bins" for 49p GameCube network adapters, or £1.99 PSP screen protectors, or even 99p (pre-owned) PS2 titles.

Probably a PC World of Warcraft 14-day trial DVD (couple of quid when I bought one a year ago...)
Otherwise, i'm sure some PSP/NDS game cases or accessories...

I work at Game on Oxford Street, the deal started on Friday as being only with Medal of Honor (which means we wrote 'MOH' in pen over the 'anything else' bit. Thing is, generally these when-bought-with deals usually actually work with anything when put through the tills, because it's just one code that sets the price to be the discount value.

Other regions may have it as just a general thing, but I know that at least on Oxford Street our marketing info said that at the moment it's supposed to be with MOH.
#16
not bad but if you got any spare xb points its only 400

Good deal if it's at your local.

My local is at Trafford Centre and they NEVER have any deals like this on and always charge extortionate prices. That could be to pay the store's rent though I guess which I'm aware is also ridiculously high. But what do I care, I'm the consumer. :p

Plus they are staffed by liars. One salesman advised my brother to buy Army of Two 2 for about £20 last week, telling him it's as good as, if not better than Gears of War. Other recommendations include Pirates of the Caribean and back when FIFA was **** I overheard them telling a mother that its the "best game out there". I felt like interupting to tell him he's the only one thats out there. Mercenaries the lot of them (I'm not talking about the game btw, which incidentally they probably think is better than GTA).

That is the trouble when you ask somebody for their opinion.

What your brother should have done is ask you instead.

PS. I think "Mercenaries" is a better game than "Grand Theft Auto". The Rockstar franchise got a lot better after it moved away from the top-down view.

Haha so true! When they try and sucker me I act like a helpless fool and soak up their babble. Then shut them up with some well informed facts. You should be there to witness the red in their face. Completely and utterly embarrased. I'd recommend everyone to do that. It'll make them think twice next time they approach someone who they think knows nothing.

Store staff: "Are you OK?" (meaning "Can I help you find something to justify my commission?")

Me: "No,... my dog has just died."

Such a response usually stops the conversation at that point.

We're Not all idiots at game and we don't work for commision. We work just to sell as we're in retail?
I don't lie in my sales aswell as most at the pallasades, we will just tell the truth, if we think a game is crap we will tell to avoid at all costs.

Indeed. The lack of knowledge about a product is not confined to the video games retail sector. You often find that a customer that has researched a topic (for example, a member of the public looking to purchase a television, or a motor vehicle) knows a lot more about a specific make, model, or subject than the "sales assistant" that tries to be helpful in-store.

Why have you specifically highlighted the staff at the branch in Birmingham? Are they renowned for stretching the truth?

dodoegg1 mentioned The Trafford Centre (in Manchester).

Perhaps you would be kind enough to also set the record straight about some other operating procedures at GAME & The Game Group in general?

GAME sells ex-display stock as 'new' - Will refund or replace any non-'mint' goods bought at Easter

Thanks.

I think this is the only game I have ever binned despite trying to playing twice. Its too long, too full of wierd names that are hard to keep track of, and you really have to be motivated to keep playing this.

Weird? ...More like "Mass Defect" :)

Seriously, though, what motivated you to buy it initially?

Had you played the first title in the franchise?

I only said my store cus thats the only one i've worked for.
Yes maybe other stores are not as good as my store. But we do try offer a great customer service. At the end of the day we get alot more happy customers leaving our store then we do disapointed ones.
Throw all the facts you want. We offer a service and we provide the customer with what they want.

Am I allowed to copy and paste this on every deal without it being considered spam?

Most sensible thing I've read since I started using the site!

Great deal and game, although I'd recommend playing the first one before playing this, then you can import your character and their decisions into the second game, as well as knowing what's going on

@ evil assassin

That's all very well, and I think we all accept that not all staff are total ****. It's just that GAME's policies just take the ****. I only buy from them when they have some attractive special offers going on, but even then I get harrased to buy **** I don't want to. I understand the staff are told to do this as part of their job, especially considering GAME's position as a games retailer is under threat from a lot of strong competition both online and instore. However, they stretch it to a point where your just put off buying from there.

I know this will sound convenient, but I was in GAME with my brother on Sunday yesterday and despite only being in there for 5 minutes to have a quick browse, we got approached by 3 different sales advisors looking to push a sale. I mean c'mon, they should at least have the decency to leave a customer alone once they've confirmed they don't need any help or assistance. The store we went into was small, so it's not like they didn't notice us being asked for assistance by other staff during closing time. The place was almost empty with just 2 other customers in there.

I used to work at Toys R Us for 3 years and we were told to push crap like no tomorrow, especially stuff that even the store acknowledged nobody wanted. I asked a customer once, if they let their feelings known, tat was it, I let them go. It was easir to get away with it being in a massive store and not being under the watchful eye of the managers the whole time. But in GAME it's different. Your constantly under the gaze of managers. Especially at the tills where your asked 50 different questions about pre-orders and trade ins and gift cards and reward points before they let you leave with what you wanted in the first place. I feel sorry for them but at the same time very annoyed. I would hate to work somewhere where I'm being forced to push something that I know would **** me off if I was on the recieving end of it.

So yes, not all staff are ****. But most of them are. I live in Leicester but have been to stores in Birmingham, Nottingham and Derby. All with the same **** customer service. It's why GAME is a last resort for me. Only go there if they're cheapest (very rare!) or if something I want desperatly is not available elsewhere.

I'd like to clarify something to an above poster who appears to be unhappy about buying 'unsealed' games as 'new' at Game.

A maximum of 4 boxes for a particular game are displayed on the shop floor (2 stacks of 2). What this usually means is, in the store-room there are the 'guts' of these 4 boxes banded together. They have never been used or damaged, they have just had to have been removed from the boxes in order to display the product safely. This means when you want to buy a game where there are 4 or less copies in stock, the assistant will take 1 of these 'guts', put it in the box, and put the usual 28 day sticker on it.

Furthermore, when games are delivered to us, it is random whether the games are sealed in clear plastic, or are just unsealed boxes. Latest example - the new Pro Evo, none of the PS3 stock arrived sealed. That means the 28 day sticker is used to seal it to grant the customer their right to return the product.

So just because you see the sticker being used, does not mean you are being screwed over in any way.

Bear in mind this information comes from working at the Oxford Street branch, which as the flagship store maintains very high standards. I'm sorry if you have experienced any poor service at other branches. I hope this info is useful as it relates to a previous post I've seen you make. :)

Yeah I will admit we are told to push crap to customers, like atm we have to push call of duty pre orders aswell a kinect pre orders.
I will agree, I have been in other games while on holiday where i have been approached heavily by staff before.
Game use a policy whats like xcite, where we have to interact with the customer and try engage to of course lead to a sale. We don't work on commision, but we do work on targets.
i'm not gone to disagree with you tbh, cus i hardly shopped there before I was hired.
We do have to ask stuff, tbh I know it **** people off so i only ask the odd customer, But its a buisness, we got to push stuff to get you back in. But like you said, and others before, Its more of a thing to make you not want to come back.

:) That is why, when it became apparent that at least one member in this thread was a GAME employee, I asked if it would be possible for a comment to be posted in my thread with some knowledge of the operating procedures.

If you would like to transpose your comment accordingly, then it may help redress the balance.

Thanks again.

400 xbox points to download Mass Effect 2? The expansion packs maybe, but not the whole game!

Deposits seem to be pushed really heavily because there's like leaderboards for the different Game stores, measured on percentages and stuff like that.

Incidentally, I dunno about other stores but you put down a deposit for Black Ops in the Oxford Street branch you get given a little promotional pack which includes a code for an avatar costume and other goodies.
