Cold. Product doesn't exist yet, could turn out to be rubbish, it's a digital item and thus has an infinite supply, rewards lazy/incompetent/scammy devs when that money should go to good ones who have proven themselves with a quality product , sucks for gaming consumers, and finally... pre-ordering is stupid.

i'll be buying this for sure, but too few details about the game, pre-order bonuses, special edition/season pass etc. for me to want to pre-order yet.

pre-ordering, especially on digital platforms, is also downright silly - they aren't gonna run out of these 'exclusive' bonuses.

As someone who is a huge mass effect fan this game looks disappointing.
Doesn't mean I won't be buying it as illogical as that may be.

Indeed, looks like Destiny with slightly more story to me. Won't be getting it.

Never even finished Mass Effect 3. Just got tired of the series.

Only games I've preordered in past couple years
Just Cause 3
Arkham knight(PC)
No man's sky
Dishonored 2(PC)
Notice a pattern? I can't trust developer's anymore even if the last game in the franchise was good and well optimised :( better to wait :) I did that with mafia 3 and look how that turned out lol

Sometimes I think franchise game deals go auto-hot just cos the game is coming out. I mean who the hell pays £32.99 for a PC game in 2016? :|

I'd replace devs with publishers, I'm sure bioware have already proven themselves with the original trilogy - that is if the original former/current docs are still (or at least at) bioware

Can you both elaborate? I am a massive err.. Mass Effect fan, I even begrudgingly paid out for all the dlc on PC. I even have this hung on the wall in my office ...

I don't think it looks disappointing, but I'm interested to hear why you think it's like destiny, as I've maxed out characters on that too... I don't really like Destiny, now I've done everything, I like it even less, I kinda got addicted. The random drops for everything really REALLY pees me off. I've seen the vids and been keeping track of news, but I guess I've missed something?

The latest trailer from the game awards was disappointing. Voice acting was uninspiring and monotonous with poor facial animations - both which ME 1-3 nailed. Only redeeming feature of the new ME footage has been the graphics. Looked like a carbon-copy of dragon age inquisition in space rather than a true ME game. Very skeptic of this one - even though it's the game I'm most looking forward to. I really do hope it isn't garbage.

32 pounds its not a good price at all. 25 pounds would be fair for pre order. for these reasons I am out.

Just my take from the latest gameplay trailer mate.

As the guy above commented, it looks sketchy with poor facial mapping (like 5 years behind) and subpar animation in cutscenes (gun snatch scene especially).

The above might be cleaned up for the release but from what we see today it's lazy.

Destiny wise the comparison I drew was (probably) some sort of loading screen in the shape of the Destiny location map, some animation whilst you load that location (rather than open space flight, of which I've seen nothing, Elite/Star Citizen), and some generic enemies in each location that walk pre programmed tracks, do generic activities, follow their own set way points - think enemies on Mars, Saturn, Earth, Venus.

Once you arrive, you kill the dumb enemies, use your vehicle (sparrow) to collect more resources (spinmetal etc) and use it to craft blueprints and weapons, scanning things with your ghost along the way, with boring narrative as you do so.

It may be unfair, but when I watched the gameplay It didn't excite me, and it could have been any franchise under the sun with a lack of generic features and game mechanics we've been forced to use since the first Halo games a decade ago.

That said, I'm a backer of Star Citizen, which is another game drawing arlttebtion of all types (good/bad) as I want to buy in to their idea that we don't have to keep recycling the same cookie cutter gameplay over and over, they may succeed, or fail, but the details they're going to interests me in a way this doesn't.

I do indeed see a pattern, you have the remarkable ability to preorder only broken games, are you an X-Men/man?

Going to preorder for sure. Will see if I can get it cheaper via another region of Origin first, favourite game series of all time and usually replay the trilogy once a year it never gets old.

As much as I love the ME series (seriously, I'm obsessed!) please don't preorder this! Don't give EA any more money before a game's released. No one else to blame when we receive a crappy, rushed game. ME3 ending anyone?

Same here, huge fan but first impressions are not good.

Voice acting looks abysmal for a start. I also get the feeling the social justice squad aka Ministry of Truth have infected this with some diversity propaganda, I've no problem with female protagonists (my all time fave fictional character is Ripley from Alien), but the villain you see in the preview is pathetic... it looks like they spent 3 minutes creating a backstory and someone put their hand up in the, meeting and said - "hey, how about we make this bad guy ...a strong independent woman of colour, amirite, amirite!??". She doesn't even look convincing, she just looks like someone you'd see walking around Tesco.

Thanks for the comprehensive reply. I think you're describing games in general there though, there is always elements of what you wrote about in most modern games, go to location - kill stuff, get reward, even in in ME1 collecting minerals, insignias and the like, but I do see where your coming from now. For me ME was all about the story, the characters and the choices you could make. Re-reading what you wrote I think has brought to light perhaps my initial impression of the first video, which I think I ignored as I've been looking forward to this game for a few years. I'm still eager to play it, I'm going to give Bioware the benefit of the doubt.

You are right, the criticism isn't wholly levelled at solely this game, more so the fact I see ME a cut above (MGS, RE, FF) the riff raff, but maybe that's an outdated nostalgic view.

I want to see innovative, distinctive ideas for a galactic adventure in 2017. I see nothing, that I can't find better examples in other games, maybe the trailer is just a poor portrayal of a groundbreaking game... maybe.

Dragon Age Inquisition was terrible for that. You basically had the main characters, then EVERYONE else were indistinguishable from each other - crappy, lazy ass, generic developing. A few suspect developing choices in that game (even though I really liked it overall) is why I'm slightly concerned for ME:A.
For example, a few bad bits DA:I had - lifeless landscapes, generic NPCs, boring fetch sidequests etc etc

Personally I cannot wait for this game - There are so many cool features announced and in all honesty the facial mapping complaint everybody has from the first trailer can easily be cleaned up in post - and even if it isn't. I really don't care. I played Sonic the hedgehog for thousands of hours - and that was watching a blue 'blur-like' creature flying from left to right on my screen with an occasional jump in there, it didn't stop me enjoying it any less.

Bioware have more than proven themselves to me in the past, more so than any other developer. We all complained about the ME:3 ending so they gave us a new one. Too little too late some will say. Great developer response I say.

There will always be believers and there will always be sceptics but one thing is for sure - WE SHOULDN'T BE PURCHASING PRE-ORDERS ANYMORE. We need to send a message to developers that releasing half complete games is not acceptable unless claiming to be 'early access' and even then I'm on the fence about that too.
