HMV are on the verge of going into liquidation, expect some serious sales in the next few weeks to shift stock. Think theyve got to find a buyer otherwise it could be game over - Waterstones already been advised theyre going to be axed if they cannot resolve there financial issues.

If you want a judge on how bad HMV really are at the moment, PSP games brand new @ £44.99 instore, went in today and Tactics Ogre (£11.98 @ Game) was £44.99, total amount of the sales taken online only is less than 10% across all formats (DVD's, CD's, Games) just shows how far behind the market they are online. And there averaging around 40% less sales now instore than they were 5 years ago.

Unless HMV magically rearrange a lot of things its the end of an era.

Have to agree with the above. Its a shame really, expensive high street locations, poor management. And all the issues people regularly raise on HUKD. I'm sure they have/are, rolling out a new store format, with people there to give advice to help drive sales. They should have cut the fat in the good times, cutting it now with a lack of buyers will be difficult at market value, which looks like a big writedown on the purchases.

Cracking deal, but yeah I have seen a lot of odd high priced stuff in HMV recently. A lot of back dated stuff still fairly high priced and even some of their pre-owned stuff is still a bit pricier than in the likes of GAME and so on. Still at least there is a bunch of really decent priced stuff about the place like this deal for example.

Heat added, good price for two new games. May just break my game buying embargo on my way home from work tomorrow.

HMV has become a store I browse in a lot (while getting quotes for trade ins to be beaten at Gamestation) but have not bought a thing from instore for going on eighteen months and that was with a Waterstone's staff discount. Walked in the other week and left laughing at a £45 price tag on Assassin's Creed 1!

2 good games for a good price, especially as they are both new copies.

Definitely going to have to be on the lookout at HMV with the troubles they are in - though I rarely see good offers in store.

Two great games for an amazing price. Crackdown alone is worth a tenner. Much better than its sequel.

Bought Mass Effect on it's own for A rennet from them a couple of years ago. I got on there slot but they do have ridiculous prices, some pre-owned stuff from them is more expensive than the new copies that you can get from places like amazon.

the prices are usually way over the top
no wonder its s**t in there

Methinks HMV are too far gone now - dropping prices will only result in a fire sale which may well please a crowd but won't have any lasting effect and they can't compete with online prices either. A real shame - used to work there during school hols (24 years ago) and a chart album was £9.99 and they would regularly take about 100K on a saturday. That was 24 years ago!

Too late for the online party too. Oh, and which bright spark thought it would be a good idea to make you phone their rubbish customer service dept if you forget your password three times just to reactivate it? I just gave up and shopped elsewhere! Duh!

With HMV remember what happened to zavvi with gift vouchers/cards, after they collapsed thousands lost money on gift cards. So buyer beware cash is better than a gift card from HMV for a present.

Went to my local 2 days ago looking for Vanquish. I bought that and the shop assistant also suggested this. I decided at £5 a game it was worth a punt so I bought this too.

Why is this expired? It is still in store in Carlisle.

And Mass efect is the classic edition with the bonus disc That's worth a tenner alone!
