I popped into Matalan today and couldn 't believe it, there were rails and rails of clothes for £2!!

I had £200 worth of stuff - Jeans, tops, suit jackets, all for £40!! It is Ladies clothes mainly for £2, but there were some mens for £2 and some 75% off.

Example, My suit jacket should have been £20 and I paid £2!!

This was at the Worcestershire store. Not sure if online too.

I was so pleased :)

My first deal so please be gentle.

Went in yesterday and it was like Mogadishu or some other warzone from a 3rd world country.
People were having tug of wars with each other over some of the clothes.

I have never seen such unruly free-for-all mob behaviour since a friend of mine dropped a 50p coin at Lime Street station in Liverpool.

People were grabbing arms full of clothes without inspecting them, and then checking them while lining up in the queue - at which stage they'd throw stuff they didn't want on to the floor.

Cheap quality people attracted to a cheap quality store usually found in cheap quality areas.
I only went into ask directions to Halfords.

EDIT: this was in Enfield, but I suspect similar scenes at other branches.

Oh well you must be too good for Matalan, as long as you went into just to ask directions for Halfrauds.

Wouldn't want to be one of those 'cheap' people would you. They aren't as good as you!!
#13
went in today, they have some stuff at £1/ £2 on the £2 racks. I overheard the staff talking and they said that all the half price items will be 1/4 price tomorow (75% off).
#14
Just to let you know stores are open new years day 9-6 really good chance to grab a bargain as it is usually dead!

As for the quality debate in my opinion better than primark and in a lot of cases even better than u might think! I bought a polo shirt from river island last year now Matalan have got a pretty much exact copy in their lee cooper range and the quality of the finish is better! The clothes are made in the same factories as Armani suits so ok the quality of the materials won't be up to that standard but the finish of the clothes ain't gonna alter a machinist is hardly gonna suddenly say oh hang on this is for cheap Matalan let's do a quick rush job!

They also moved to the same factory as Matalan simply because they knew of the number of quality control checks made by the company they didn't even inspect before moving in!

Oh and there are further markdowns happening from tomorrow stuff that was already 1/2 price some of it is going 75%

You must have been in there a long time to have witnessed all that, and considering you were only asking for directions! Picked up some bargains didn't you! :p

It's a good deal if you can be bothered to wait an hour in queues for the till for basically cheap quality clothes.

I've just gone and checked seems to be closed lights are on near the entrance but shutters down where the exit is. Saw two women standing there with a trolley, probably staff.

Will go tomorrow, does anyone know when it opens?

I don't think you know your own ass, from your elbow!

They gave some great clothes, some times even better quality, and at half the price.

There is allot of womens clothes on sale, and some 2quid lines, but not much in the Tpruro branch.
I picked up a few items yesterday, and some more today. Rated high!

Just to clear some things up, all the £2 clothes are leftovers from previous sales through out the past year.

They are open on new years day and thats when the 75% sales starts.

I *think* they were open last year on NYD (or maybe th year before) so perhaps they are.

Asking directions my ****... Was you asking directions on HUKD too, when you clicked on the Matalan Deal? and then continued to write comments as well.
Surely if you was that much of a snob you would not be looking on HUKD to save a few quid in the first place.
Great Deal... Heat Added... Now I`m off to buy some cheap quality clothes for myself and my family and hopefully with a few games of Tug of War thrown in for good measure... Or better still a full blown War (which I`m sure you have no idea or experience of, and in my opinion a very inconsiderate comparison) :x

Totally agree, would rather pay a bit more so it lasts longer than 5 minutes, so not a good deal imo!

Look out for the pink highlighter pen marks on the back, if it has that on it it's in the sale regardless of what the ticket says.

I've always found Matalan stuff to be the best quality for the 'cheapo' clothes shops, places like Primark and Peacocks are the worst (but serve their purpose!) but I've had lots of my Matalan clothes for years!

Shame I can't pop along, there's no way Mr Starlet will be dragged over there today!
#35
Hi All, do you still need a Matalan card to shop there? might pop along tomorrow and take a look
#36
yes you still need a membership- it is free, you can feel out at till I did that today, its takes 2mins.
I went in there today, and got a couple bits, didnt have much in my size, only bigger sizes but alot of bargains , there was even shoes for £2.
I think its brill when different shops do them cheap, thats why I love primark too.
#37
Went in today got some real cheap bargins, silly me got to take 5 items back in the morning as I didnt try them on, kids were running all over the place so will go by myself.
#38
I got a bargain. Bought a huge mirror for £2 reduced from £20!!!!!

Yes it did have the highlighter pen mark, i mentioned it to customer services but they said it was full price and that was that.... i did manage to get lots more bargains though, lovely dress for £4 was £16, tailored trousers for £3.50 instead of £14!
