What does the server switch off mean in practice? We have a load of these but haven't really played them much. Googling just seems to suggest no online multiplayer but are some things unplayable?

All of the toyboxes that people have created will be lost, which I highly recommend you download some for future as it extends gameplay considerably. Some are rubbish but people have created some quite challenging games and race tracks etc. All of the online play (multiplayer etc) will be also lost. All toyboxes that you download will be still playable after the switch off from what I can gather. I bought this for my kids in November for Crimbo and have become quite obsessed in trying to collect all the figures (I just dont want to admit to myself yet that I couldve bought a PS4 Pro instead of committing to this game)

No online multiplayer, and you probably won't be able to download user created content either.

The other 95% of the game (single player campaign, Toy Box) will work just fine.

It might be worth adding...Quidco are giving 15% off at ToysRus for the next hour plus I used the £5 bonus that was posted on here the other day.

They advised you to download any toy boxes you wished to still use after the shutdown, so to then make them unusable would be stunningly bad...

off top of my head at work and away from my xbox...no. I think one was called Boss Bashing and my kids (6&4yr olds) loved the Expedition Everest from Animal Kingdom

Does shutting down the server affect access to the patches or are they hosted by Sony/MS/Ninty? There was definitely at least one for 3.0, and I think it added in support for the Finding Dory playset and the Marvel Battlegrounds game.

I'm fairly convinced these are hosted by Live/PSN networks.

These at not held on the Disney servers, and are on the Sony / Nintendo etc servers.

Also it's worth noting that there is a custom private server being launched for use after the official server is shutdown - http://www.reddit.com/r/infiniteinfinity

Great spot OP! Managed to bag a few ones I haven't got as well as couple of bits I have got which i'll have to sell but needed like £6 to get free delivery. Just a shame they haven't got any Toy Box Speedway Expansion Game for delivery and they've not got any stock near me as £1.49 is an absolute bargain!

I paid £9 for the Speedway in Asda before Xmas, so at £1.49 is a steal...they have one in our closest branch but is still a 40 minute round trip and is tempting to go and buy just to sell. Its a good game too...just loading between tracks is a bit too lengthy

Is it worth me getting this if we have Lego dimensions? Does it work in the same kind of way, where you can use different characters etc?

never played dimensions but playsets can only be played by specific characters but all can be used in the "toybox" where you can build your own game (if you have time and patience to figure it out). There is a lot of scope with it and the untapped potential of what could have been is confusing as to why it was cancelled (ignoring the $100m+ loss to the shareholders). The biggest disappointment is that the playsets can only be used with the specific version (star wars, dory, inside out and marvel battlegrounds can only be used on version 3 and the other marvel playsets on version 2)...I bought all of the playsets from v1 before I knew what I was doing so ended up digging my old 360 and had to buy another starter kit. I personally love it and am on a mission to get them all (I'm now at 86 figures and require sectioning!)

I'm still confused lol so let's say I got the star wars 3.0 starter pack can I only use star wars figures or can I use other 3.0 figures for example mulan or do I need a different disc for that

You can use any of the 3.0 figures, and any other figures below that too. You just need the 3.0 disc to do so

Easiest way to check is to turn the internet of your console off and then turn the game on, as far as i know only multiplayer, downloading toy boxes wont work

It's a Private Server for Disney Infinity, that runs in the same way as the current, official one. So, everything will work as it currently does! Head over to http://reddit.com/r/infiniteinfinity and see the full info there.

All downloaded and archived, it'll be uploaded and accessible on the above URL at some point after server shutdown.

Everything will work, apart from Multiplayer & downloading / sharing Toy Boxes.

Cheers OP for posting this. Did click and collect this morning for the starter set and some figs, and got some more on the store shelves that weren't available or reduced on the site. Didn't quite understand infinity well enough before but at this price if nephew doesn't like it at least they make some nice ornaments.

Nephew prefers marvel rather than star wars, does anyone advise if I need to get infinity 2.0 starter set for the marvel superheroes levels?

In order to play the Marvel Playsets (Avengers, Spiderman and Guardians of the Galaxy) you will need just the 2.0 disk (the base will work) but I found that it was cheaper to buy the starter kit as you get 3 characters, 2 toybox games and the disk. You can use the marvel characters within the Toybox on 3.0 or if you buy the Marvel Battlegrounds playset (which turns it into a beat-em-up game) which is also for 3.0.

Meant to say that you can generally buy the Playsets from cex for £1

Thanks Joycey I bought the Rey and Fynn box set plus Kylo too. I haven't got the game but I think the sculpts are great.
