So I am a bit grumpy here. I booked a flight from Manchester to Manila in June and compared to Emirates and Etihad who were selling tickets for roughtly 500 odd.....Oman air were doing it for 420. I booked it, thinking I was getting a good deal only to find out that price has dropped massively after 24 hours to £340!!. ...Urgh

I called Oman air and well I am not sure if I will get any money. I am waiting for a callback. But anyway chatting up the agent, Manchester is a new route for Oma air with flights starting on 1st May. The demand has been quite low so there is a massive sale over Easter. Oman air itself is an ok airline. They use new airbud 330 mainly with 34 inch pitch and 18 inch wide seats which is better than both emirates and etihad plus a better seat layout of 2-4-2

Anyway there was a lot of interest on Philippines flight on this forum a few weeks ago. I didn't get it but surely you guys can. Lots of dates available In June and July time. Reference here is outbound from Manchester 25th June and inbound 25th July

Just to add, I use skyscanner as reference. Lowest price always comes out to be opodo or traveltrolley, which I personally would never buy from given the horrible reviews they have. I then call either STA travel or netflights and ask them to beat the price and 9 out of 10 times they beat it by £1. Hope this helps someone.

They use new Airbus A330 mainly with 34 inch pitch and 18 inch wide seats which is better than both emirates and etihad plus a better seat layout of 2-4-2.

I have found Oman Air to be excellent, a tiny airline in comparison to Qatar, Etihad and Emirates, with fewer destinations to offer.

Only thing I would warn you is, the A330's will not be operating from Manchester this will be flown by the 787's while this is a newer aircraft, and has benefits like the large windows and light airy feel with the high ceiling, there any many complaints how the seats are very cramped and 3-3-3 configuration is not popular.

Also Oman Air are leasing some 787's from Kenya Airways for 203 years, while they are painted in Oman Air colours. The seating and in-flight entertainment was installed to Kenya Airways requirements, and is far more basic than usually found on Oman Air's own 787's.

Unfortunately I doubt you will get any money back from Oman Air on the price difference. Airlines constantly change prices, to match rivals and to fill seats when demand isn't so great. Good luck, anyway!

Cheers buddy, I have no hope of getting any money back. Basically should have waited a couple more days. Ah well.

The e-ticket I have has got a330 for all leg of the journey but i hear you, I would hate it if the airplane changes to 787 at last minute

It is much nicer when the change of plane goes the other way.

I was due to fly from HongKong back to the UK via a crappy 777 fitted with cramped, narrow seats (I am 6`6" and "sturdy"); but when we got to the gate, there was a brand new A380 (and I mean brand new - it still had the brand new car smell to it)

My apologies you are totally correct it is the A330 aircraft...

When I remember reading the route was being launched last year, they did say it was going to be the 787. They must have shuffled about aircrafts and what operates on what routes.

I cannot find these prices, but i know they were just about to launch their service from Manchester... I was hoping for some good offers... Hopefully short connections or a long connection where you visit Oman.

My friend flew with Oman years ago and said it was a dry airline... no idea if it still is... he did not rate them, but again this info was about 7 years ago... I flew Air China to MNL - never again... saying that it was only 599 for 2 adults and 1 child to MNL.
