Good price but personally thought it was probably the worst film I've ever seen.

i've had this dvd on the shelf for about a year and can never build up the courage to watch it. From those that have seen it - is it really good?

Great film....love the creaking of the boat.

This is in my top ten movies of all time, but it's not gonna be to everyone's taste - it's not an out and out action blockbuster. It's quite a slow burner, but the characters and plot are fantastic imho

It's a good movie but the plot is knitted together from several novels in a series of 20, so it feels slightly weird and misshapen. But the atmosphere and period detail is spot on as are the battle scenes. Crowe and Bettany are a good double act.

The illustration seems to show a two-movie box set with Kingdom of Heaven. Now that is a carp film. Village blacksmith who can't care for his wife turns out to be illegitimate offspring of incompetent warrior. Heads for Jerusalem where he unaccountably turns out to be an expert in strategy and ballistics and of course the local posh totty falls for him because he looks like Orlando Bloom and she hasn't heard what happened to his first wife...

Wow! watched this for the first time on Film4 last year and was blown away, an amazing film and a great adaptation of Patrick O'Brian's book, definite shades of the relationship between Darwin and Fitzroy and with some great performances - highly recommended with some extraordinary ocean scenes!

Didn't like it at all... lots of noise and no substance imo.

If you're into Patrick O'Brian and interested in Darwin and Fitzroy you should try to get hold of a copy of Harry Thompson's novel 'This Thing Of Darkness'. An amazing read, almost like a postscript to O'Brian's books...
