So your saying a nail is better because the box can be opened with a specialist tool and a bit or knowledge and ability?

These boxes are good. However anything can be broken into, house, car, boat whatever. So do the sensible thing, mount it somewhere discrete!

I lost the code to the one that was on the house when we bought it, I found out via google you can insert a small flat piece of metal in my case a blade out a bic razor under the tumbler that moved up a bit when you hit the flat, line all 4 up and you have the combination. So i took it off the wall as its sod all use.

And a decent burglar could get through a wooden door or prize out a double glaze unit in seconds. As I said above, mount it somewhere that's not obvious. Only an plank, as I presume the previous owner was, would put it in plain sight!

Was so the carer could get in from what I can gather.

At least you could see if the key was gone. Nothing to stop a savvy thief getting a key cut and coming back at their leisure, they are worse because they give you the confidence that your key is secure when in fact it is anything but. At least with the key on a nail you are aware of how insecure your home now is.

Specialist tool LOL, the cheapest razor blade you can buy is far from a specialist tool!

Thanks for the Screwfix offer! Didn't see that on here or else I'd have just been there to get one
