10 Gang Tower surge protected socket with power switch and cable guide. Power and surge neon indicator.

SAME items being sold at Argos for over £20 and another one at Robert Dyas for £9.99 but it does not come with switch or differently positioned plus at the bottom.

NOTE: It looks different on the website but it looks the way I have shown it here when you go into store.

Make sure the surge trip is resettable or the first time it goes you're looking at buying another one.

Typical that the Robert Dyas near me closed a few months back!

Good deal though so have some heat!

We've currently got a Masterplug surge tower extension and I just noticed the other day that the surge light has gone out.

This will be the third one that's needed to be replaced (albeit over a few years) but it's going to cost around £25 for a replacement (black version) so it's not exactly cheap.

Can you give some more info about resettable ones as these definitely sound worth looking into. I did do a google search but didn't come up with anything.

Thanks in advance :)

Had three of these with hardly any use and the switch has failed on two of them, try something else if I was you.

Most home use surge protection units are going to be a metal oxide varister (MOV), as they are cheaper. See here, Wikipedia MOV.

If you find that your surge protectors are dying quickly, then it would suggest you are seeing frequent spikes and surges. My surge protectors have lasted for years, before the surge protection light finally went out.

As an alternative to buying a multi-plug surge protector, why not just buy a cheaper single plug surge protector, and then plug the multi-plug into that. It'll work out cheaper but won't look at tidy. Take a look at something like this, Belkin SurgeMaster, 1-Way SurgeCube
