Converts one 13 amp socket to 3 individually switched sockets, each with a separate neon on/off indicator.

Up to 13,500 amp electrical spike protection.

UK £1,000 connected equipment warranty.

Warranty not valid in ROI.

Not so much a deal this but more a very useful item, although I couldn't find it cheaper.
Ideal if you have wall sockets in your house without on/off switches.
I have a wall socket where my TV is and it does not have on/off switches. My Samsung 32" TV only goes on standby, so the only way to turn it off was to unplug it from the wall but this was causing sparks. So I found this little gadget really useful. I know there are a few different designs of these around but this one looked like the best quality.

#5
Thanks! Voted hot, paid £6.99 for mine. I use 2 of these for my computer bits and bobs, especially useful if you have things without on/off switches:thumbsup:

Think I'll reserve 1 too. Just wish there was no LED on the switches to save energy hehe.

I'm guessing the LEDs will only light up when switched on so if you leave all the appliances switched off you'll save loads of energy :giggle:  :giggle:

I don't know alot about how these work, but if I use this for my pc will it be protected in the case of lightning strikes/power surges? Thx!

Excellent post Beasley. Gonna grab a couple.

...Just wish there was no LED on the switches ...

They're neon indicators - actually consuming 3% of the power taken by a LED diode ;-)
#13
My computer is plugged into one of these right now. The lights do come on when the switch is in the on position.

I was in my local Wilkinson's at the weekend and they had something similar for £1.50 - reduced from £3
#17
That's a sweet design.
#18
heat and rep given as it is someting that deosnt come up often.

not being an electrician but i would have thought anyone with a relitively new fuse box would have circuit breakers as standard now so that would make the surge protector useless as any spike above a certain percentage would set the trip switch? at least that is how i understand it. mind you i only got my house rewired 12 months ago so i would have needed one before hand.

A circuit breaker will not usually cope with mains spikes, so I wouldn't depend on them to protect your equipment.

For the sake of a few quid, better safe than sorry.;-)

Power surges, probably, a lightning strike, possibly, but remember most storm damage is via your telephone line, this item does not cover your phone line, you really need one with a telephone line port for computer equipment.

Sounds like most are requiring these for the PC? Just an alternative over at eBuyer is the Belkin 6-socket surge protection strip (quickfind code: 45747)

Belkin E-Series 6 Socket, 1-Metre SurgeStrip™

For £3.99 + p&p will allow all your PC pheripherals to be plugged in such as PC, monitor,Speakers, Printer, SCanner etc etc. Not individually switched but just an alternative

One disadvantage of the above 3-way adapter is that some devices have a transformer plug which you will find difficult to fit in.
#22
Are these only suitable for use with a single socket? It looks like the sockets on them are left top and right side, making it impossible to plug something in the mains socket next to one of the sides.

Can someone that has purchased one clarify this please?

Looking at the arrows on the plug it looks like its left, top and bottom.

Thanks for that i didn't see the arrows.:)

similar item in Halfords @ £4.49, although the Halfords item may not provide mains supply spike protection, which makes the subject of this HotDeal even more attractive.
#30

I wasn't aware something needed to be...

I wasn't aware of its existence before this thread, I was missing out on a very useful item at a very good price. This thread alerted me to it and and I'm grateful for that. It's a good deal because it's a good price alongside its usefulness.

I can get them for a quid in the Pound Shop, these are surge protectors.
#37
Lol Good 1!
#38
OK, excuse me. I didn't realize they were surge-protectors, thought it was just an overpriced 3-way adaptor :)
