Pretty good, heat added :) Good for anyone who wants an extension tbh lol.

Pity it's only a 1m long cable :( 2-3m would have been more preferable!

Change it, it's only a few screws.

Wasn't this 13amp over the entire extension which makes it unsuitable for high power consumption items or am I getting this mixed up with soemthing else?

Apart from that, looks a decent deal.

Yes - and it was a long thread.

Without re-reading the whole thing I think it was decided that this is fine for pluging in TVs, computers, etc... but not high power appliances like kettles.

I've got one and although it's not great quality it does the job and I like that it has a switch for each plug.

Anything that goes into a normal UK socket is 13A max - so every extension like this is 13A max over all sockets. So with all six items connected, make sure they're not drawing too much current!

I picked one up from Tesco last week (2m version) it only cost ~£5.50

So this is not that hot.

I got some 6 switched socket extension leads for £2.99 each at ebuyer a while ago

Easy enough to work out the total load for yourself.
Divide the wattage of the appliance eg 1000w by 240 ie UK voltage
and that gives you the Amps that the appliance is drawing - 1000/240 = 4mps.
As long as the total for all of the appliances that you have pluged into the extension sockets doesn't exceed 13 you will be OK. If not the fuse in the plug on the end of the lead that
you plug into the mains will blow!
I'd try to keep it a little below the 13 just to be safe.
This sort of thing is ideal for computers where you might have the PC, a printer,
a scanner etc etc all to plug in none of which would exceed more than 1amp
or for a TV setup with the TV, freeview box maybe, DVD player, Hard disk recorder etc.
Again, none of these will draw more than 1amp so ideal for that.
Not very good for kitchen appliances such as kettles etc which draw a lot more power.

Hi folks, with regard to the voltage of our mains, since we are EU Harmonised, the voltage is actually 230volts. Please take this into account when working things out.

Any pedants out there are welcome to argue that the voltage is actually a nominal 230 but is allowed to swing by +10% and -6% making the voltage range very scary indeed.:whistling::whistling:

At last  someone gave me a likely answer to why my Belkin extension died "Twice". I had a guy in doing some joinery work in the house and he plugged into this extension, (i think it was his corded table saw and a mitre) and then said "I never touched anything mate!";-)

Took them back to argos and they replaced them, but I guess they couldnt take the initial surge of the high powered tools.

Thanks

It's pedantic to say it's 230V when it's really closer to 240V. 230V is the pretend voltage to keep the EEC regulators happy.

Nice. We have like 5 mobile phone chargers and this will accommodate them all in one extension, but allow control over which is charging at anyone time without continual swapping over of plugs.

Have some HEAT!
