Has there been a media push for these or something?

My mum came home the other day checking our fire alarms saying we needed one of these lol.

I work at homebase and a guy moaned that the carbon monoxide detectors were too expensive and put it back on the shelf.

I asked him what he needed it for, and he said his boiler is next to his room so he needed to make sure there wasn't an outbreak. I replied with "so you'd rather risk dying than buy one?"

Needless to say he then looked like a rabbit in headlights and bought 2!

What kind of idiot values their life so low that they think this is an expense?

Are these any good? Are they over sensitive though?

Do you have an item code?

So with a flawed argument you conned him out of a lot of money? He could have gotten this one instead, and be just as safe (I assume).

Sorry if that sounds a bit harsh, but the prices I have seen at homebase *are* a lot too high, so the guy was right.

the battery on it's own is worth £2.99!! heat n rep!

Does anyone know if these will false alarm based on smoke?

i.e. If I fit it in the kitchen to detect C.M. from my boiler, will the toaster set it off?

I wouldnt fit a smoke alarm directly in the kitchen for this reason, its in the hallway to minimise my having to waft it with a towel every time I cook!

Great price --heat added 'lifesaver'

Got one in my Halfords, it was marked up at a crazy £19.99.

Yes these things do work, I left my front door open when my car was running a few weeks back and the alarm went off straight away.

I doubt a toaster emits any CM to set one off though!

Cheers OP - heated.
