It was a scary time for me and has left me emotionally scarred. I can never go past a Matalan store ever again without having flash backs.

Imagine what it's like for us lot that work there during these sales!
Anyway, I can confirm this. This is old unsold sale stock, mostly accessories (that is shoes, underwear, scarfs, hats) that most stores are bringing out of their stockrooms and marking down to £1. Items available will wildly vary across stores so please take this as a pop in, see what's there sort of offer.
Having a quick rummage today at some of the items that had come out there were a lot of non-popular shoe sizes (one pair of boots I liked had some men's size 6s and some size 12s and nothing inbetween, so great if you're an odd size!)
Also, please check on the wee screen at the till that as the items are scanning up at the price they are stickered as some items are not £1 on the tills and will need to have their prices changed (there's a good chance your till operator will be well versed with these things but it helps to catch it before the transaction is completed!)

Oh, you'd be surprised.
I had people buying the items at the upstairs tills, realising they didn't need any of it because and only bought a trolley load because they were a pound, and returning them to me at the downstairs tills ;)
I'm assuming, like my store, that during opening hours today the items were being stickered in the back and fed out as they were done on a per crate basis, and simply snapped up as soon as they were hitting the floor.
There should be many more stickered items in the £1 sections tomorrow...

lol i thought i'd say as there were loads of notices up saying no returns ;) bought 2 pairs of boots for hubby & wasn't sure if he'd like them & thought it's only £2 lost if he didn't but luckily he did :) there was a single boot that i knew he'd like but couldn't find the other one :(
