Thanks for this - I've had a good look at the website at the trustees and the work that this charity does, they certainly do some great great things with some of the poorest and most vulnerable people in the world - I've bought this for my wife (on behalf of our baby daughter!) for Mother's Day and it is the perfect gift and I'm sure that she'll love it. What about those who were forced to being impregnated wouldn't they be given the choice of aborting? Looks like it's pro-life only.
To be honest, I won't support something like this.

You clearly have no idea about delivering healthcare in the developing world. If charities like this overtly stated they provide abortion services, then they would be driven out of the countries in which they work. I mean honestly, just look at Ireland and America for examples of how developed nations struggle to deal with the moral question of abortion. It's even more divisive in developing nations...so I personally fully understand why this charity does not provide abortions.

More importantly, rape is a direct consequence of women not being empowered. This charity specifically does at least 2 things to empower women - helping stop the root cause of forced pregnancy.

-Provide communities with information on maternal health and family planning
-Empower women by providing opportunities for them to set up their own businesses
-
Improve access to health centres and hospitals
-Train local midwives and doctors to enable them to provide safe births
-Where necessary, we provide the equipment and resources needed so hospitals and health centres can enable women to give birth safely

I think this thread perfectly demonstrates how we can all find reasons to not do what is right. The way I think of it; we are British by pure geographic fortune at birth. We could have been born anywhere...but we weren't. We were born as the fortunate 5%. We should embrace the opportunity we have been given to show real human values of care and compassion. It's what we would want if we were the poor woman dying needlessly in child birth purely because she was born in Sudan rather than the UK...

help them give birth to someone that may go to war with us, not a chance, my £15 would go to a British Baby Special Care Unit ........ oh by the way I gave £20 to the Peterborough one yesterday, before even seeing this
How's that UKIP membership for you? People like you are ruining this country. Intolerant bigot.
not fair to tar every UKIP supporter with your bigot brush. people from every colour support UKIP. So we want to stop mass immigration and leeching services from immigrants, much better than the 2 main parties who let anyone in. I want my kids to get a job when they leave school not be fighting it out with eastern europeans and asians for every single job. Immigration is fine if we adopt an Oz style immigration, bring in the people we actually need. Just keep voting labour, we'll all pay in the end....
Oh my God. You want your kids to get jobs and not be fighting it out with those pesky foreigners for jobs? Maybe, just maybe...make sure your kids are educated enough to get the jobs, rather than feel they deserve it because they were born in a certain area defined by humans. Is that so hard to grasp? The economy tanked and immigrants are the easy target, something UKIP capitalise on. Immigration helps the country more than harming it; a small minority of chancers don't represent the majority.
Why do you think Uni courses are so popular at the moment, its because for every job there are loads of foreign people trying for each one and the Brits ARE trying to get the better jobs , I assume that your job is safe from competition with immigrants , certain trades like the building and hospitality jobs , factory jobs are all fiercely competed for by the immigrants and many many of these trades have lost their jobs due to competing immigrants. The daft thing about immigration is that the ones who say it isn't a problem are the ones completely unaffected by it. These people are also unfortunately the ones who shape our immigration policies .The ones who have lost their jobs, cant get homes for their family or school places for their kids due to immigration are the ones who feel strongly about this. Its easy to say its not a problem when it doesn't affect you................
Employers employ those who work hardest for the least pay. Simple economics. If a Polish person in England can live off £100 a week, so can an English person. However, school leavers expect to walk into jobs and degrees are practically worthless. It's lazy to blame immigration for this disparity; why on earth should someone be employed because they were born here? Those who work hard, make it.
Keep championing the right for limitless immigration but wages have gone down in a hell of a lot of trades due to immigration, and many cant find work because too many migrants are chasing the same jobs against the british. I hope you dont have the same trouble that some brits do, but if you lose your job due to a migrant doing it for less than you would want, you might understand then.

To reiterate - if a migrant can work for x amount, why can't someone from here? There are enough jobs out there, yet people are too 'proud'.
