As most of you probably know the 360 HD DVD Drive with 2 HD DVDs can be bought from Gamestation for £24.99. However at the moment there are only the Universal (£7.99) discs that are available with the offer. But still a good deal.

HOWEVER:

Each store should be receiving shipments later this week with more titles, mostly Warner stuff.
Walked into my store today and despite them not receiving the aforementioned deliveries they had some stock left over before they started selling them cheap.

Managed to get Matrix Trilogy for £13.50 (after student discount) £14.99 otherwise!!! Almost bought it amazon.ca last night so glad I didn't :D - only some stores offer student discounts.

The Warner DVDs I am assuming will be at the same price point (£7.99) and should be included with the 360 Drive offer, and the guy at the store said that it is likely they will introduce a 3 for 2 offer in the near future

Just a head up really as I thought I best let you know and tell you to check out your local Gamestation. May be worth finding out their number and pestering them each morning to see what deliveries they are expecting.

They only had the Universal stuff on display but they had the previous stock in their stock room, so if you ask nicely I'm sure they'd be happy to check for you. Otherwise keep checking your local store and see what happens when they get more deliveries in!

Confirmed prices:
The Matrix Trilogy £14.99 (£9.99 used!)

Just to clarify I got The Matrix Trilogy for £14.99 in store!! (minus student discount)

This obviously the new prices that are coming into effect when they get stock during the week - so it's worth checking.

Receipt (poor quality) please excuse the cheap phone :(

Cheers for the heads up, heat left.

brilliant deal if you can find it!

Will be checking my local GS tomorrow, with luck they get Heroes and Planet Earth in too. Apparently BSG looks rubbish on HD-DVD, otherwise i'd be on search for that too...

BSG has some problems, the second half of the pilot is broken and Universal don't care, but the discs are an improvement over the DVDs.

I'll never find the Matrix for £15! What a shame.
#8
I was in there on Friday, and Heroes was £29.99. Not a bad price at all.

I've not had a lot of complaints about the BSG discs. The first few don't look HD as much as you'd hope, but apparently the second half is a big improvement. Just a shame the rest of the show won't get put on the format.

I have just checked my local branch and although they don't have any new copies in, Pre-Owned is £9.99!

Where from?

this might be cheap but as far as I know the first film still has 10-15 secs cuts in the UK - you're better off with the US set

The cinematic release and original VHS and DVD releases were cut by 10 seconds, but the 2006 DVD and 2007 HD DVD releases are uncut, here's the bbfc page for when they reviewed the rating, also on that page are the original cinema/VHS/DVD ratings from 1999/2000. While only the cinematic release is marked as Cut, the old VHS/DVD ratings are 9-10 seconds shorter in runtime than the 2006 release. The 90 second difference between the cinematic release and HD DVD release is largely due to the cinematic runtime being an estimate based on the length of the reels, plus the extra 10 seconds. The 7 min runtime difference between DVD and HD DVD is due to the framerates used, PAL DVDs run at 25fps, HD DVD retains the original film's 24fps. There's also comments on the play.com page for this title that confirm that this is the uncut version.

All the usuals are back in stock now online.
I rang my local store earlier and they said that this promotion will be running for a while until they shift "all the remaining hddvd drives" and that they've "done a deal with Warner Brothers to clear all their remaining stock" which should be instore soon.
