Hmm wish I had a spare £140, would've snapped one up, hate hot weather...

The problem with these units is where it dumps the heat =out the back of unit so behind the unit will be nice and warm and the unit will only cool whats in front of it, so turn it off and warm room again. Oh and the electric it uses! You would be better off with a fan or real air conditioning.

I agree. I just don't rate them. We bought a similar model 2 years ago and took it back. Most models are unbelievably loud when running.... Not to mention the difficulty in finding somewhere to put the pipe that expels the heat.....utterly pointless.

If you want aircon, I would recommend spending some decent money on a proper wall mounted system but it will probably be pricey.... If you don't have that kind of money, buy a decent stand-up fan and look for other remedies like a applying reflective film to reflect the light from your windows....

Is this a genuine Air Conditioner or merely an Evaporative cooler?
#6
It will be a evaporative cooler, i work in a data centre doing air con not installing just maintance and the size of our units are massive to get cooling for all the servers, even the rooms the size of a living room need two 6ft by 6ft units to cool it, so if your got your tv and computer on and its a hot day you have no chance without proper aircon to keep your room to a cool climate.

You are supposed to vent them to the outside, not the inside! If you use it the way you describe, you have basically got a big, expensive fan, not an a/c unit.

I would go for a 'proper' unit and pay the money. They are a lot quieter as well.

Agree with the comments above. Unless it has an outlet pipe through a wall (or window) you will not notice a significant temparature reduction. The Aldi cooler for £149.99 (posted last week) is actually working but it is VERY NOISY. I do use it in my bedroom for about 4hrs before bed-time and this keeps the room cool for the night. Don't watch tv with the unit on unless you have some very good noise-cancelling headphones.

Well her is a update, it's going back for a refund.
While it is a air con machine, the hose (which i didn't know it had, no advice on the website) is HUGE. It is very loud but did cool the room very well.
In short, bulky, awkward, loud, badly designed but did cool the room.

You live and learn.
