Just got back from ASDA where I bought two 2Gb Maxell MAXstix USB flash drives for just a quid each! This was at the Keighley store, no sure if it's nationwide. They had plenty in stock in silver, pink or blue.

They also had what looked like the same model in newer packaging for £16.99.

Not sure how good they are, but should do me for uni.

I agree. All this post proof nonsense is becoming a bit tedious. The OP didn't have to go to the trouble of posting at all.

Yep, ridiculous... It's hard enough getting stuff approved on this site anyway so I doubt if the OP would bother going to the trouble of posting this otherwise! Maybe if it were originally £2000 and then it had gone down to a pound then yes but really!

Holy crap a local deal actually close to where I live !!! Did they have lots left ?
#18
Really getting peed off with seeing all these bargains in supermarkets on here.

There are never any of these in any of the Coventry stores - we have 3 sainsburys, 3 Asdas and 4 or 5 Tescos within easy reach of us and they never seem to have any bargains.

Move house then...

deeppockets, i'd say they had about 10 in silver and a few left in blue and pink. i have tried to post a pic of the receipt for all the non-believers but it's waiting to be ok'd by a mod.

Anyone other than the op managed to get one?

Was thinking of going to my local Asda but it's about 10 miles away.
#26
Those local offers do clutter this site but you can always scroll past them. At least the OP made the effort to name the store and an approximate number of units left.

The same goes for end-of-line offers and local manager specials.
#27
I'd have probably bought 4 or 5 lol
But I'd keep them, always handy to have a few USBs around. I'd install some linux varieties on them, ready boost etc.

I got 7!!!

Sorry to those in the Watford area but as soon as I posted my moan on this post I rang Asda Watford. They said they had 2 and I went straight down where the sales assistant said he had found a few more and sold me 7. I'm really pleased as I can now start to save and then delete photos from my laptop as it's that full I can't download the current photos from my camera!!

Thanks again OP

BTW they were in the TV department not the camera department.

You should pick up some DVD+/-Rs, if the pictures are important. Always good to have a backup of the backup ;-)

Now that you have 7, backup your photos onto two separate memory sticks as USB memory is no where near as reliable as harddisk. I have had two memory stick data corruptions rendering the memory stick useless. One was a Sandisk 8GB titanium and one was a unbranded 1GB. The breakage comes upon insertion. (Generally do not rely on a device that you pull out and insert.

I'd watch it with any memory stick with Maxell brand. I got caught when I bought two on bogof - yes they work but they have this stupid thing where you plug the stick into USB on Windows and it creates two drives say for example F: and G:

Every time you want to use it you then have to run a password-unlocking utility on F: which in turn gives you access to G:

This is OK I guess on Windows if you value the advantage of having a password. But for dumb devices like DVD players you plug in the stick and can't see your data because there is no way of doing your password.

I complained to Maxell support and they told me tough that's how ours work.

I sort of agree. I think it'd be good to have another category on the site which lists local deals or only those that you can get offline at least.

Just use the Maxell Usb flash disk format tool to delete the partition and security feature.
