I'm only now beginning to understand the differences in the quality of DVDs.

A question, not necessarily for the OP, what is the difference between these green packed ones and these red packed ones and then to these red pack of 100 for £11.99?

I have only ever bought DVD-R (supposedly better backward compatibility) and have found that most branded ones work fine. I bought these Maxell ones (green and red) from Play before and found no difference between any of them...

Thee thing with dvds is alot of people will say they work fine and they did not get any coasters with them which is good, but when you go and use them a few years down the line and stick them in something ie computer, dvd player ex ex they won't work, sometimes it's the dye you use and some times it's just pot luck.

And unfortunately price isn't always a guide to this...

HDD is cheap enough that for stuff burned from a computer we can keep backups; unfortunately all the films and programs I've burned from my tv recorder are probably delaminating as I type...

I've found Maxell to be great discs. Just a pity they're not printable :(

The last DVD+Rs I used are Ritek F16 dye

The Green ones from Play were O.K. and I didn't get many coasters, but the Red ones were Made In India and I have had loads more coasters with these.

I won't actually quote you; but I'm sure you can guess what I think of your reply - it would of been helpful if you'd given reasons rather than shout the same thing over and over again ;)

I just had a pack of 100 of the red ones delivered and they are RitekF1 dye whichdigitalfaq.com quantify as .... "would be in a 2nd class 'Consumer Quality' grade , suggested for replaceable one-off burns -- possibly even archival grade if it passes three phase testing" ... (so not premiership, but if division 1 gets split into championship and division 1, would be in the championship ..... ) so Nexus76's comments seem a bit odd - (what were you using them for?) ..... Poundland's are CMC dye I think ....
