Where did you bring them?
#7
I've been paying £10 for 50 unbranded (and somewhat unreliable it must be said) ones so this is a great price.
#8
Yep... Good price, but I've had a lot of bother with Maxells in the past.

Maybe it's my burner, but works OK with Verbs... Even the dodgy Indian ones!

whsmith never have any bargains

Bought some of these a few weeks ago and i'm sorry to say i've also had trouble with them.

Bad burns on a few films i've burned, picture locking up etc, unless i burn them really slowly (4-8x)
#12
I ordered these on 23rd, as you mentioned I paid 12.99, now at this price we cannot go wrong
#13
Guys please, always use genuine Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden blank media to burn stuff - especially to make copies of important files, etc!
#14
these are decent discs. burn nicely at max speed
#15
Are these printable?

Are these printable?

Nope - gold topped with branding/writing on them.
Still got some from when play had these 3 for 2 a while back - very pleased with them.
#17
Maxell is aload of tat :w00t:

Bought some of these about 8 months ago, all of them burnt OK, but a lot of them have degraded and have unreadable sections on them now.

Still, good price for cheap temporary storage, but don't store anything important/long term on them.

I wished!....I only buy printables, just bought some Ritek ones today from Scan, 150 for £25 next day delivery via City Link (usually £6.99, free for over £21 ex.vat spend to AV Forum Members)

these any good for backing up wii games?

Yes, they work fine for me.
I have used Verbs and these Maxwell. No problems with either, but I guess the long term life is an unknown.

If a Wii game stops working in 12 months time, it's no great loss.

I have tried these for Wii backups and they are a bit hit & miss - some work & some don't - not technically minded enough to know if it's my writer that's the problem or the discs. however I have also used TDK DVD-R for about 25 backups and all have worked perfectly. For future use I will be sticking with TDK, but that's just my own preference - I'm not saying these won't work.

If a Wii game stops working in 12 months time, it's no great loss.

As you may have guessed from my above post, I haven't figured out how to use the "multi-quote2 for replies! Anyone care to point me in the right direction? :)

Also, H & R for the deal btw - Wii issue aside thsi is a hot deal.
#30
Been using these for a while, coaster rate must be around 1% so more than happy with these for the price.

My burner is quite picky, I can only use Verbs if I do something DL, but these work fine.

Completely agree me and family member bought 100 of these each and both have had more coasters than succesful ones and the Maxell Dvd-rw are just as bad.... Switched to the Verbatims at Play for £17.99 and burnt over 400 now without one single coaster..

don't even listen to anyone that complains about these discs

1. learn how to burn
2. learn how to store

i got these a while back, i used more than 50 by now, they all burned fantastic at 8x on a pioneer dvd writerm, stored in a tub, no problems at all

they are a good brand underneath the maxell coating, they are RITEK F1

just a general rule, burn the discs at half the advertised max speed if you want them to last

buy buy buy...hot hot hot :santa:

quidco on these is about 6p (0.5%) so you're not missing much.

Can these play on a (newish) cd player??

As I say, it may well be my burner... If you find they do a good job then the price is ace, but for me it's £12 down the swanny, or a trip to scan for a better DVD drive!

I still voted hot for that reason - just not suitable for me with 40% bin fodder!
#37
i'm about halfway though my 3rd pack of these (250ish burns) and can honestly say i've only ever had <5 failures, great quality for an amazing price.

Thanks, ordered some:thumbsup:

Agreed these are great disks. I have bought 600 so far and only had a couple failures and all have been my fault. I use these in PS3, XBox, XBox360\ Wii and various different DVD players. I have recorded on these disks in 2 different DVD recorders and 5 different PC dvd writers without any problem what so ever.

Finally someone talking sense.
These are great budget discs that when burnt and stored properly will last many years to come.
