Exclusive to PLAY customers! 80 DVD's for the price of 50! That's 30 discs free!

Maxell DVD-R discs offer six times the storage capacity of CD-Rs, making them ideal choices for recording digital movies and photos, backing up hard drives, creating multimedia presentations, and developing a host of other projects. Each write-once disc holds 4.7 GB of information--enough for two hours of video in SP mode or six hours in EP mode. The DVD-Rs can also store up to a half dozen hours of high-quality music. Once recorded, the discs will last anywhere from 40 to 250 years, making them a great choice for archiving.

A decent price for decent disks:thumbsup:
I don't rely on them for archive. I bought a couple of hundred when they were £4.99 for 50 at play and they've been Ok so far (about 1 in 10 failing to burn).
#8
Great spot! Thank you.

Maxell are an over rated brand no good for wii games stick with verbatim or generic ritek g05's , these will work in the wii but from experience and the relevant forums they are only good as coasters.
#10
The reviews for these discs have not been the greatest but Maxell tend to change their suppliers as they do not make their own discs - so be interesting to hear what dye these use.

Certainly wouldn't call a ONE in TEN fail rate OK that's for sure.
#12
Nice price thanks :)

Can you print on these babies at all or are they pre printed with there gubbins on etc.

Regards

I didn't think this was possible? Is it easy? Wouldn't mind backing up some of mine just in case I stand on one.

Quick answer is yes they should be ok for wii backups.

However you need one of these drives below to read the data and each backup will take aproximately 2hours to read and descramble. You then need a modded wii to play them.

(Hitachi LG GDR-8161b (IDE)
Hitachi LG GDR-8162b (IDE)
Hitachi LG GDR-8163b (IDE)
Hitachi LG GDR-8164b (IDE)
Hitachi LG GDR-H10NBLK (SATA)

Hope that helps.

And remember, modding your Wii invalidates your warranty

Good price! :)

Go for the DVD+R's for the Wii :whistling:

Maxell is 1st Class Media (out of 4 classes)

MXLRG01, MXLRG02 = Maxell = (-R)(-RW) ... be aware of fakes

I bought the same dvd's, pack of 50 a few weeks back from play for £4.99, which was obviously a hotter deal. Ive still got a long way to go to finish them. This is a hot deal, but not the hottest.
#24
These discs are pretty good for the money. I am still working through the last lot I got when they were on offer.

It's unlikely they'll be MXLRG01 or 02 - the Maxell DVD-R I bought from Play a couple of months back were RitekF1 = 2nd Class media - i.e.not for archive.

They are not printable mine are gold topped with green text plenty of room for notes (look nice if you write on them with a green CD pen)

sorry its not as easy as that !! You can only use a certain make burner to read them and they can not be played without fitting a modchip to the curcuit board of the Wii

What Is The Difference Between +r Disc And -r Disc???
#29
Currently, the Maxell's from Play (100pk carry packs) are CMC MAG AM3 (-R) and CMC MAG M01 (+R)

What are coughed movies?

Depends what you're playing the coughed movies on.

All standard DVD-Rs are readable on PC Dvd drives, but for DVD players you'd need to find out if they read from DVD-R or DVD+R discs. Also, you would have to do some research online on the actual burnt format that it will read.

Google is a good place to start if you if need info on how to burn DVD's for your DVD player, be it personal vids or cough vids ;)

I received mine the other day. But I'm finding that none of the discs work. I think it might be to do with my drive, but this is a new drive and reads all other dvd's fine. Anyone else have any issues with these dvds???
