In Tesco today I spotted a new offer on SD cards.
4GB class 4 card for £5.
Make was Maxell MAXimum Ultra High Speed Class 4 SDHC.
Look for Dark blue card pack with plastic card box holder.

Also had the 1 GB PNY SD cards for £1 that were mentioned a month ago here:

Doesn't exist :(
brilliant price for a 4gb card but how can maxell claim this is "ultra high speed" when its class 4?!
Doesn't exist :(

Plenty of stock of both cards in my local store so they must be around in other places.

Admittedly Class 4 is "not that fast" nowadays but most people are not that bothered by the speed and it's good enough for many applications.
The 1gb sd cards have been posted for 2 days now too.
I bought the Maxell 4Gb one on Friday from Tesco for £5. Put it in my DSLR, Formatted it and took about 10 shots. Then an error message popped up on the screen... 'This card is not correctly formatted. Please Format'! I took it out of the camera and tried to read it on my computer. Nothing! All of the shots I had taken were lost! I had to reformat the card to remove anything that 'might' have been left on there.

I'll be taking the card back today! I refuse to trust it any further. I 'may' just have picked a dud one but I'm not willing to risk it. I shan't be asking for a replacement.
there is some software on the panasonic site that seems to format these cards very well just google panasonic sd card formatter

These aren't the blank PNY 1Gb ones - which were 50p at Tesco Warwick yesterday
Thanks mikbak but it's gone back now. Even if I still had it, I don't expect to have to download a specific formatter to be able to use a memory card! I'll stick with a usable brand such as Integral, SanDisk etc from now on. I wouldn't trust this brand of memory card ever again.
