sorry my point is although decent price for bench which i voted hot. the 50kg set of maximuscle discs are 70 quid and the biggest one they have is 5kg. the max you probably going to lift is 40 at max unless theres another shop that does the correct discs in a bigger weight than 5kg for 1. i would defo buy right now if there was a bigger disc.

You do not have to buy the rip-off maximuscle discs. This is a standard bar and any standard discs will be suitable.

Ive always used Golds Gym. Get what you pay for. Ive had them years.

This type of fly system does not work.

It only works for someone with the same arm length as to the person who designed the bench.

I find these type of systems awkward and useless for me.

You get what you pay for with certain items but not with cast iron weights. I'm sure if you were to drop a Golds Gym weight and a Tesco weight onto a concrete floor, they'd both be gubbed. Looks a decent deal for the bench tho.

No meathead "I can bench press 3 tons, this is no good" "I agree this is no good, by the way I can bench press 4 tons" arguments yet? Give it time...

I just want a cheap bench (£30 or so) that I can either lie flat on or set to incline and which folds flat for storage. No gubbins for holding weights, no latches for supporting bars. I only use dumb bells and want something practical for doing incline flies and presses.

It doesn't have to be particularly sturdy either. I only weight 62KG and will only be lifting 40KG max.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Just do flys the normal way, no need for these extras, I threw mine in the bin with my old york bench.

Sick of Argos site lately, some great deals I've missed from going out of stock in minutes. Ah well.

Absolute crap for the price. A cheap nasty bench for 70 quid, would be better buying an ex gym flat bench without all the silly attachments.

Yeah because buying an ex gym flat bench without anywhere to put a bar is a great way of getting a bench suitable for bench press... which I'm assuming is what a lost of people want out of a bench like this. Anyone who's a beginner and wants to start getting into weight lifting will be fine with this type of bench. I have a similar one and it's lasted me 7 years and counting.

gumtree - benches on there all the time around that kinda price range.

Myself... and i await being told that i risk a serious injury... but i use a swiss ball and dumbells - lie on it under my chest for prone rows, lie on it on my back for benches - i don't do them but imagine flys would be similar.

I just like the idea of making the most of as little equipment as i can as i fear investing in the dreaded 'Weider Clothes Horse" so a swiss ball, kettlebell and dumbells is all i use.

Anyone tell if i should stop this immediately and get a bench? or does this sound fair enough?

Just stop immediately. Forget the bench. Package up ready for the tip.

If you've been using one of those for 7 years, you can't have progressed much, seeing as the max load for these things is 200kg? (including user)

.......but great testament to the longevity of the product!
