#14
For thtat price it is bound to be 2x750mb side by side..ive seen it done before... especially from maplins.. rip off place since they hit the high streets....
#15
dont know if i should or should not get this!!!!!! arrgggg
#16
look here: http://www.maxtor.com/gb/external-drives/external-hard-drive/

there is no 1.5GB size for the basics desktop drive... its either a one touch turbo (2x 750GB) or mislabelled.

Great deal .... except the dreaded "Seagate" word.

I've had 6 in a row Seagate drives that all failed on me.
I would never touch another Seagate drive again.
Maxtor always made drives that were rock solid, but were bought out by Seagate over a year ago and Seagate now just use the Maxtor name to re-brand their own drives.
#18
they might be using a wrong pic lol

just ordered mine! :)

rang maplin before ordering to check return policy, 14 days return for full refund if not happy with product (can either return to store or use pre-pay return label) and 1 year warranty if faulty! (note: maxtor website quotes 3 year manufacturers warranty)

Sure you dont have that the wrong way round? Maxtor drives are known for being awful, whereas Seagates are rock solid (currently running 4 Seagates never missed a beat... :whistling:)

You do know this Maxtor has a seagate in it!...

DO NOT BUY THIS

It is massivly misdecribed

I have spoken to Maplin Customer services, what you are actually buying is a Maxtor OneTouch III 1.5tb which is 2 750gb drives in a dual case (the picture on the site is wrong).

the One Touch III was a really really bad drive, it uses power like its free, it overheats it ransomly disconnects while doing transfers. Maxtor got rid of them and it looks like Maplin where the suckers who bougfht them in bulk

DO NOT TOCUH THIS DRIVE. Google the Maxtor One Touch III 1.5Tb its a bag of cr4p and maplin are trying to shift them with a dodgy photo and vague description.

Well if you don't get what is described at least you can take it back for a refund and some compo.

Now unexpired.
#33
Thanks ducky... better late than never.

Yes Maplin will take it back but

1: you have to return it to them by mail or to a store who then return it to head office. you will not get your refund till this is complete, (can take 2 weeks)

2: they state that the photo is illastrative! and may not be the actual product and the description is vague,. so you would not get compensation., better off just not order the POS in the first place. they know what they are doing the vague description and false picture hid what is truly a bad product.
#35
I saw this yesterday on maplins site while having a browse but didn't post it here as it's 2 x 750gb drives, not that exciting so didn't post it. Bad luck to those of you that bought one at least you can get your money back.

Hi,

This is an absolute bargain IMHO.

Whilst many on here do not seem to like Maxtor products I too have had Maxtor hard disk drives fail their customer service have always been second to none where sourcing replacements are concerned.

Maxtor as Gary_rip has pointed out are now a Seagate LLC company.

Maplin aren't the cheapest on the high-street admittedly however they're not known for misleading customers (unlike Comet who charged 50.99 onto my credit card without prior authorization to to ship an Acer Aspire One with 120Gb Hard Disk Drive due to an error on their web-site claiming that the one originally bought should have shipped with a 120Gb Hard Disk Drive and not an 8Gb Solid State Drive (their stock label that they had applied onto the manufacturers specification label suggests that the one originally shipped has a 120Gb Hard Disk Drive also)).

This product is not a Maxtor One-Touch III, and does have the correct image on the product page on Maplin.co.uk and furthermore does not contain 2 x 750Gb Hard Disk Drives but one 1.5Tb Seagate Hard Disk Drive

Further details on this product offering from Maplin.co.uk can be found here:-

http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?product_id=26935
http://www.span.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=22763
http://www.morecomputers.co.uk/extra.asp?pn=STM315005EHD301-RK

Grab yourself a £7.00 money off coupon by registering on Maplin.co.uk and this really is a bargain. This hard disk drive is retailing for £169.87 to £178.60 excluding postage & packing.

Hope this is of some help.
