Ah, I remember the days when you could get a 5TB HD for £2. I blame Trump/Brexit/Mark Carney/Global Warming....

Neither is this one. It's a 3.5" HD and requires a PSU.

One advantage the WD may have is that it doesn't use SMR, which the Seagate HD inside this one almost certainly does.

These Maxtor (previously labelled Samsung) D3 Station drives are however easy to open without breaking anything, if you want to use it as an internal drive.

I read the description and no psu is included and it says "usb 3 powered".

One of you is right, one wrong. :P

Err, it is a portable drive. It does not require a psu, it is powered via usb..hence why there is no psu listed in the box contents. This is a portable drive.....

This is a desktop driver needing power adapter. Same as

No. This is a desktop drive. Check the Desktop/Maxtor M3/Portable buttons and you will see that the 5TB version is only available as a desktop drive. The dimensions and weight quoted are also not appropriate for a portable drive, and the form factor is stated as 3.5. I agree the information is contradictory and confusing, but the D3 Station drives are desktop drives.

You will need to wait but you could cancel it later, if you could find it cheaper ?? What I have been missing here ??
