Great price for a 32MB cache version 500GB HDD.

No doubt there will be debate over whether Maxtors are good or bad or both, but it's a good price either way

Not knocking the OP as the price is good.....

"will probably expire around midday on Wed. 09.04.08"

It's a maxtor so the drive wil probably fail before the offer expires...... i'd much rather spend my money on the similarly priced 500gig samsung from ebuyer.

Think this expires in less than an hour.. has been on since midnight last night.

Scan's TodayOnly offers usually last from midday to midday, not midnight to midnight.
Also, if you add to your basket, the price remains as when added until you clear the basket.

Appreciate it's a short lived offer, but it'll be of use to someone somewhere, and yes Maxtor are not the best, but with a 3-5yr warranty, it's not bad at all for the price.

A Samsung may be better, but can you get one at this price?

Seems to have gone?

Depends where you're looking.

You have to look at the 'Today Only' page to get the price.
Clicking on that brings up the full price until you 'add to basket' where the offer price appears (and if you have free shipping - bonus)

Well, at £1.50 extra, I'd rather go with this -

Maxtor = seagate

To above - why, it's got less cache & a slower seek time?

Well, I see it as a poor price if Maxtor are bad - noone needs an unreliable HD. For myself, I will never buy Maxtor again, and if (as one poster states) Maxtor=seagate then I'll never buy Seagate either.

Maxtor have been in the HDD market a lot longer then Samsung have, and to be honest this reminds me of the old IBM DeathStar scare mongering days.

Either way, good price for a 32MB cache 500GB HDD, and I'll expire the offer later on this afternoon anyway.
