I would not buy Maxtor, they are not very reliable, this one at scan is far more better and it comes with a 5 year guarantee, plus scan also has this on today only all the time. You can ofcourse pick it up or get free delivery if you are with hexus forums.

Also has 105mb/s transfer rate.

To be honest, my experience of Maxtor drives has also been bad. Of all the drives I've had fail on me over the years, it's always been the maxtors. I'd definitely go for Seagate over Maxtor too.

That was the other thing I was going to mention. I wouldn't buy anything from saverstore (formally savastore/watford electronics, and connected with the fallen ISP redten). Google them.

Agree plus WD drives - both highly reliable unlike others.

On Monday morning, I ordered some goods from Saverstore online as a birthday present. I had used them before and despite having had previous delivery problems I used them again - big mistake. As I had forgotten my password I asked for my password to be sent to me. They emailed me my password 698 times. This denied me use of my email facilities for a few hours.

The website info says if your order is confirmed before 4 p.m. you get next day delivery. The item description said the 2 items were in stock and that their delivery is "in 1-3 days". So I placed the order. After trawling through 699 emails from Saverstore I found the order confirmation and this had been received Monday lunchtime.

When I tried to track delivery on Monday afternoon their webpage said "Awaiting Stock from Satellite Warehouse". So I tried to contact customer services as I wanted to be sure that the birthday present would arrive on time. They are impossible to contact by phone. A query via a web link to customer services received a quick response saying "The time frame for orders is that you normally receive it in 2 to 3 working days". This would be in time for the birthday!

On Tuesday the same order status was noted on their website. So I used their sales number, they would not discuss the order and simply said that "orders are normally delivered in 2 to 3 days". This still looked hopefull. But to be certain, I emailed customer services via their link again saying that unless the order would be recieved by Thursday lunchtime (i.e. 3 working days) that the order would be cancelled - and also asked for an apology for their 698 emails.

Thursday morning I received an email saying "Just to let you know your order is being dispatched today. I would like to apologise for the delay and any inconvenience it may have caused." As the order was now late (bearing in mind all their statement regarding delivery), and concerned that this would be delivered too late for use as a birthday present, and not trusting anything they now had to say, on Thursday at lunchtime I tried to cancel the order. But they do not provide a cancel order facility on their website. The website advises that if you are unable to cancel the order by pressing the "cancel" button that you should cancel via the customer service email link. I did so. No acknowledgment for this order cancel request was received. I assumed that this was the end of the story.

The goods arrived on Monday (7 days after being ordered against a 1-3 day delivery option for the items). I refused delivery.

I am now holding my breath waiting for a refund. I will sue if this is not received. I will never use Saverstore again. Worse than this - I had ollowed a link from the Saverstore site to register for future discounts. That website crashed after taking some details, however, I then received emails from "Shopper Discounts & Rewards Customer Service [[email protected]]" confirming my registration. Not trusting Saverstore, I followed a link to check my account" on the site. This showed that Saverstore had passed my credit card details on to this company (who claim that they are not associated with Saverstore) - and worse than this, "my account" shows that I had agreed to pay them £10 per month and that the benefit to this is that I can buy from Saverstore and other stores and claim up to £10 per month cash back. I rang Shopper Discounts & Rewards and they claim that I have agreed to have my card details passed to them and have agreed to pay a £10 per month charge. I did not agree to this, and I'm not stupid enough to pay £10 per month to be able to claim up to £10 per month - so I have cancelled this membership via telephone and received an email confirming this.
