I saw these instore at Emersons Green. They had about 10 left after I bought mine.

Shelf marked as being reduced from £59.99 to £29.99.

I would assume this is nationwide, if you can find stock.

link doesnt work

This is instore only - the link takes you to the Sainsburys website - I've updated the title to reflect this.

Voted hot.

I bought the 320GB WD drive for £45 from PCworld but there seems to be a cable issue on those drives.

Hot Hot Hot...... Cheaper than most 160gb Sata 2.5 laptop hard drive off Fleabay!!! You could purchase one of these and replace or upgrade your laptop hard drive and at that price for 250GB !!!!

Im tempted to have a cruise down my local Sainsburys today and get one bought...Hope they have some in at Worksop...Will update later if i manage to bag one at this price.

No.....Really joking aside, I off to collect one later..I rang 1st to check stock and the assistant said they were out of stock but went to check...she said she found one in the glass display cabinet and it was marked at £60 so she said let me scan it..... I could tell she was surprised when it scanned @ £29.99. So im off later to collect it.... Thanks for posting the info...Have some heat and rep. :gift:

I went up to the customer service desk in my local Sainsburys wearing a pair of shades and a leather bikers jacket and said "all your external harddrives - give them to me now" the chick behind the counter said sorry sir but if you dont leave i'll call security so i replied "i'll be back." They were in for a bit of a u surprise when i came crashing through the front doors in a beat up old car i'd hot-wired earlier, got out with a pump action shotgun in one hand and an uzi in the other and proceeded to take out the whole store and clear them out of their entire stock of maxtor external harddrives and a few other bits and bobs that took my fancy. So there you go thusly i have no other option but to vote this deal COLD!

Saw a couple of these at the Haywards Heath Sainsury's mid morning... looked like a good deal.
#19
Got one of these this morning before I saw this and was just coming on to post...

Next best price in shops is £40 for 250gb in Tesco so this is a good buy.
#20
Just got two of these for xmas pressies at the Hedge End store. They were in the bottom of a glass cabinet to the right of all the cameras. Two left in there when I left and I guess they may have more out back.

Cheers, hot from me.

Got one of these a few months back.

Good quality drive and a snip at this price.

Seagate owns Maxtor now, so this is basically as good as a Seagate equivalent, of which I also have a few with no issues ever.

Well... I used to defend Seagate and always recommend them but after having 4 drives fail in short order..... WD for me. Still tempted to get one as a laptop drive upgrade though as I don't keep important data on that.

I went to Sainsburys but only to buy a pint of milk and half a dozen eggs. As I was leaving the store the Sainsburys manager insisted I take a 500 GB Maxtor HD and actually paid me £19 to take it off their hands. It was very heavy to carry. It wouldn't be so bad but I've no need a of a hard drive, seeing as I am totally computer illiterate, don't have a PC and only ever use pen and paper. Honest! :whistling:

So I used it for target practice. Fancy a tech doorstop anyone?

Well went to get one and mine has failed out the box. :x

Maybe something to do with them being stacked on a shelf in a tall cupboard so when the woman opens the door half the stock slides right off on to the floor! And who knows how many times this has happened!
I did think about dumping it elsewhere in the store but decided to buy and try...and of course they ain't built for this treatment.

It tries to spin but can't. This is why I try to buy my all HDD from Scan..they don't play football with their HDDs.:whistling:

None on the shelf in Plymouth (Marsh Mills).
I asked a SA and he went out back and got one. He said they "had loads left", this was about 4PM today.

I am not sure as the SA fetched mine out the glass display cabinet and I think mine was the last one as when i rang earlier in the day she 1st said there were none in stock but she went to have a look and found mine.... she 1st told me they were £60 but then scanned it at £29.99.. You are best off ringing them...Theres a sainsburys local @ ladybrook mansfield and at nottingham road, mansfield....Ring them and ask if they have in stock....Good luck.
#38
Still 4 left in Emersons Green this morning after I picked up another one as a present for someone.
#39
Still marked up as £59.99 in Shrewsbury but £29.99 at the till, about 4 left. Hot!

Jealous, we're snowbound and its just started again!! Should have bought that XC90 for £20K posted a while back, then again rather a lot to save a few quid on a drive.

Hot hot hot on a cold cold day
