Mcaffee messes so much with windows, slows your pc, is pretty hard to get of, spams you to death with offers.

I wouldnt put this on my pc if it was free for a 100 years. It totally wrecks your pc... I'm in network support and the problems this causes are mad. I had one PC was blocking a program accessing the internet, easy right just change settings in mcaffee... wrong the license had ran out no changing of settings until you pay to renew. You would think just removie it maybe... wrong corruption of registry occurred windows coundnt reinstate its firewall so now windows blocked all programs from accessing the internet. Mcaffee is worse than a virus... lock down your pc so only you can make changes and commom sense works best with a basic virus protection like avg.

Adding to what fishleg says, McAFEE is also pretty poor in independent tests. If I recall correctly one of the tests had all six free internet security progs in their tests ahead of McAFEE which is not a good place for them to be.

Oh, and what is it with their product having a pic with it spelled as McAFEE now? Do they think the caps make them more 1337? :P

Price is good though.

Microsoft security essentials, malwarebytes and common sense is all you need now days for Windows

Why waste your money?
All AV is roughly the same - equally bad. However, there is a view that the only one worth bothering with is Windows Defender, which is free.

Intel need to drop the name McAfee and call it "Intel security, now without any trace of McAfee" and they might start shifting some stock.

Shockingly bad AV. Installed on a clients laptop who complained of slow speed. Scanned with Malwarebytes and found over 1000 malware files.....
Don't waste your money

Great product it's made me plenty of money over the years - it has broken so many machines and caused many more to run slow.. Lots of extra business for me!

Never had a problem with it and never had a virus over three different machines.

Had it for years, except for last year when used free copy and defender which was rubbish.... thanks for this it's such a good bargain as was £80! Cheers Neil

The common sense is the part I've found most struggle with when using a computer, or you know kids who just tend to install random stuff on your PC.

I still think getting a anti-virus better than Windows essential is a good idea, though there are better options out there, I use Kaspersky because I get it free with my Barclays account. McAfee is by far the worst Anti-Virus software I've come across, my brother just last week uninstalled his copy and went back to Norton, You'd think after being bought out by Intel they'd improve but they are still as bad as ever.

On a personal note I would avoid using this particular brand.
Came pre-installed on win 10 computer and just slowed it down.
Even after uninstall on computer using add remove programme functiion some traces of the software remain.
You need to go to mc**** website and download small software programme to fully uninstall.
Why intel purchased this brand is beyond me, they need to ditch that name and rebrand both name and products. Avoid
sorry Op

As the first thing one does upon receipt of a new PC is to remove this odious program (and then updating Windows inbuilt Defender), why would anyone wish to spend a fiver on such bloatware???
