Much prefer Avast, which is free!!

Mods is it not possible to delete every post on these Antivirus/internet security deals where someone comments on a free one being better.
its ridiculous how often this same debate kicks off.

if you're not commenting that the same product is available cheaper elsewhere, then shut the hell up. its been done to death.

is it a good price for THIS ITEM?
not in your opinion, is it worth paying for!

Geez, calm down!! Just stating my opinion. I had Mcaffee preinstalled on my first computer and hated it. Avast runs in the background nicely without any of the conflictions or problems that mcaffee caused. I just don't see the point in paying for something that is available for free.

you 're not paying for something thats free in this case.
Mcaffee don't offer the free product, Avast do and its JUST an Antivirus at that, not a full internet security suite.

its not a go at you personally, its every time someone posts an internet security deal, people bombard the thread with their opinions of the free ones compared to the paid for ones.

Avast offer a free basic protection for home users with little or no support direct. why?
do they do it cos they like you?
or is it in the hope that you like their product, you buy the full version with the added features?

companies are there to make money and giving limited versions of products away for free is just another marketing tool.
its to raise awareness of the paid for product.
R&D needs to be paid for, as do employees and business premises.

if the free ones are so good, why do they offer a premium paid for one with extra benefits?

but if it works for you, good stuff.

visit shieldsup and PCflank to see how secure your machine is tho.
might open a few eyes.

Thanks for tips to the sites. Checked them all seems ok, PC stealthed except for ping and PCflank is all good except for cookies, which I prefer to keep as it saves having to re-enter my login details everytime, though I know this is a security threat having these details saved.

good to hear, I know what you mean about logins, its a nightmare if you frequent a lot of sites that require it.
Norton 360 that I'm using (8mb ram, its awesome and I never ever thought I'd say it!!!) has a login manager that seems very effective.

Will have a look at that. I had heard it was supposed to be very good.
