McAfee Internet Security 2015 inc AntiVirus 1 PC 1 Year £5.49 @ Sahifa Online / ebay

£5.49 @ eBay
Antivirus for £5.49. Just got one for myself. Thought, someone might be after a decent antivirus as well?

Without getting into the free vs paid debate, if you're after a decent antivirus, McAfee is probably the last name you should be looking at.

If you are a HSBC customer you can get this for free. Link via Internet banking. Use a different email every year thats all. Been using it for many years without any problems. Also many free links available for 6 months or more.

mcafee isn't bad because it doesnt work; chances are you'll be fine. Its bad because it eats up a lot of your computers performance in doing so, without being more effective than less demanding alternatives.

Honestly if you're looking for something for your own computer and vaguely know what you're doing- won't click on links from prince mudabega, or "special pill" ads on websites etc- then microsoft's own windows defender is good, I use it myself.

I used to use comodo but it seems to be getting a bit more fluffy

Kaspersky is, as most surveys indicate, the best paid-for security (free if you bank with Barclays i think), but it slowed my laptop down so much i gave up on it after a few years and switched to free Avast which seems to do a great job.

Another one for Avast free :)
There is no such thing a "the best" one - they go up and down in ranking depending on who tests them and what tests they use.
BUT in all the tests, there are some free ones that consistently rank up there with any of the paid ones and Avast is one of those.
I've used Avast free for many years and installed it on all the machines I've built and never had a problem.
It's a free download, small footprint so it doesn't hog your computer like some of the paid ones, and does the job.
Be careful as it does nag you every so often to get the Avast paid version, but you just need to click on the Free button every time.
