I've used this in the past along with Norton, AVG, ZoneAlarm and currently Kaspersky - all have their strengths and weaknesses, but this deal seems good - you receive a 3 machine license with auto updates for 1 year ideal for SOHO environment. The rrp price of this package is £49.99 and is discounted by 54% The software has AV, Firewall and Sypware components. It's received favourable ratings from both users and the press.

McAfee and Norton are terrible resource hogs, which slows down your system significantly. (AVG and Kaspersky don't).

About 8 quid here with postage

I wouldn't recommend Mcafee, its a very poor software, I recently changed from it due to it continually missing viruses and trojans.

Never mind slating off Mcafee, its a perfectly good piece of software, you always get these wortless opinions by people who think they know it all!

Its a good deal but you can get it cheaper: http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4SD1&CategorySelectedId=11169&NavigationKey=11169,50454

ignorance is bliss :whistling:

you'll always get people defending this rubbish which they bought in haste then found out better stuff is available for free!

makes them feel a little bit better knowing other people got ripped off too!

You couldn't pay me enough to get this PoS on my PC's, it is hugely overrated (marketing) as a brand name,
That said it is still way ahead of Norton in the AV stakes.

The days of decent free protection is slipping away with AVG complete cock up regarding AVG 8 but even so it is better than this.

Pathetice response. You think you know your AV and pc security? Doesn't look like it Doh!

The free stuff you refer to gives folks false sense of security, it's pointless having the freebie security software installed. Only worthwhile is if you don't use your pc for secure ssl transactions, in which case you can install piece of cack software.

However, majority of us need that extra protections, and the likes of Zonealarm, Norton, McAfee and Kaspersky are enough to counter the online threats - and if your pc gets hampered with performance, then READ the install instructions and/or install on a clean OS.

What a muppet you are...:p

Beware - The 2008 suite no longer blocks adware!
Because of this I switched to Kaspersky.

I use AVG free and while it doesn't always seem to trap some of the viruses sent by email, it alerts you as soon as you try to do anything silly with the file.

Yes, mugs which includes the IT security specialists, IT Publications and majority of the pc users - who have quite clearly stated that free AV programs do not provide the level of protection for those who carryout SSL transactions.
