I bought a few of these at the weekend instore, just noticed it's also available online too. McDoughalls Puff Pastry Mix, just need to add water, a 225g bag only 7 pence! My children have got their work cut out making pasties etc.. next week ;) It may help others in the summer holidays - if the weather doesn't get any better! :)

Report back when you have then as i'd be interested to see if it rises or just stays flat like short crust.

It's GREAT, I bought it a few weeks back at 25p a bag. You have to roll it out and fold it over into thirds 4 times, I rolled it out to about 3mm for sossie rolls and it worked fine. Packet says: Makes 12 sossie rolls or covers a 900ml (1/2 pint) pie dish

Obviously not quite as puffy as a ready made saxbys slab but handy

VERY HOT at 7p :-D

Not for me - it's 2 more underneath the sponge mix. The picture in my post is taken from the site and it's clearly priced at 7 pence!

I made the apple turnovers earlier on this eve and i've gotta say i'm really impressed. They taste stunning - even have the kids seal of approval, although that might be more to do with Tana Ramsay's recipe than anything i've done :w00t: . Definately not at all like shortcrust pastry, really light and easy to use, will be getting some more
